We purchased a new 2010 Newmar Ventana in February of 2010 (love the coach) and right from the start we have had issues with the microwave. It would turn the light and fan on by itself, and wouldn't cook in the convection mode. It was sent in to be repaired 3 different times by GE under warrantee but the issues keep coming back. I have contacted GE's consumer relations department and we are being told that GE does not warrantee any of its appiances installed in a motorhome. They have offered a good will gesture of a $100 but state that if we buy a GE product and install it in the motorhome the warrantee will be void!
We have not contacted Newmar as of yet but I we have talked to our dealer, who has tried to be very helpful and they are looking into this matter. We feel this speaks very poorly of GE.

GE has NEVER denied warranty on any of the GE ovens in the vehicles we sell. That said, what GE and other Microwave companies do NOT do is pay for the removal of the M/W in an RV. That cost is paid by the OEM dealership Service center and is paid by the OEM RV maker. THAT is what I think the GE rep meant. The M/W's in an RV (over the counter) have on site warranty repair by the GE service provider in your area, but because the Over the counter M/W MUST have the normal mount modified to keep the M/W secure while in transit, the regular GE service tech will not access the special screws and mounts to remove for service. In your case, call Newmar directly and explain what has happened and Newmar will instruct your dealer to order a new GE from Newmar for replacement. Your dealer will probably get that done also, but if YOU call Newmar NOW, it will get done quicker. Newmar responds quicker if the customer calls and complains. Doug

Hi,
I have the same microvave and have HAD the same issue. When plugged into shore power only. Found that if you pull very lightly on the door handle the light and fan come on. Push in on the handle and all goes OFF. This was found to be that the door did not enter the internal OFF switch all the way. An adjustment for better engagement of the door latch into the switch cured it.
Good luck. Hope this works for you as well.

I would have a serious talk with Newmar about the appliances THEY chose to put it their MHs. I would ask if they are still installing GE, if so why? And if they are not using GE, ask Newmar for a replacement that does have a MH warranty.

It could be worse. The Dometic in my motor home was really made by LG and I have YET to have an LG ANYTHING that made me 100% happy.
As for the microwave,,, I was able to fix it.. By installing a GE part of all things.

In response to Doug: first off I do intend to CONTACT Newmar myself and am working with MY dealership. Our dealer HAS taken OUT the MW three separate times and sent it for repair under warranty. The problem keeps happening and so we recently contacted GE and here is a quote from the email we received back "At this time GE does not warranty or cover any parts or service for any appliance of any kind installed in an RV." That sir is copied from their email sent to me! So.... I WILL BE talking to Newmar on Monday. Thank you for your response.

This is the GE warranty. The PHONE REP was wrong. As I stated. You SHOULD have asked, If NOT under warranty, then why did you work on it 3 times UNDER Warranty. The plain fact is, the repair companies out there that work on appliances do NOT have skilled techs for ALL the appliances they work on. Here in the DFW area, they send out a mobile company (huge company) and the techs come out, take the appliance apart and THEN call into a remote Service Center and talk to a knowledgable (supposed) tech and THAT tech walks the mobile tech thru the diagnostics. Then they order the new part and you hope they are right. 50% of the time, they are NOT. But, the original tech rarely comes back when the part comes in and then the procedure starts all over. I will bet that is what happened in your case, they were not knowledgable enough to find and fix the problem. Doug
