Don’t forget property tax to your city or town, I just sent out a check to my town for $2600.00+ for 2012 tax year, I hate paying taxes on something I already paid for at time of purchase & have to continue to pay every year just because it is in my driveway.

Pardon my ignorance but why do you have to pay tax on that?

Actually in Mass it is called an excise tax. If we were lucky they would call it a property tax and we could write it off but we can't write off an excise tax. Taxachussettes where everything the state can charge you is as big as Texas.

Being a noob... what and approx. how much is the cost of owning a MH. Please help me compile a list of the what and how much it cost you. In order to help me figure what to expect getting into this. I'll start a list and add to it as we go. This is for appro. 40' MH.

Please feel free to assign a dollar value to the following:

1.Insurance for MH annually-$1,400
2.Yearly maint.-$1,000
3.What is daily fee for mid/high level campground.50-125
4 Equiptment to tow toad-$4,000
5 Fuel(yes I know on Basis of useage, what's yours?)10mpg
6 Tires- $600 annualy
7 Storage structure-?
8 Clubs and Assoc. membership-$400
9 Registration and Inspection- $300
10 Property Tax?????
11 Inital stock sheets + dishes-$500
12 Travel BBQ + chairs- $300
13 Electronics Cable-internet-printer-?
14
15

17
18

I hate to tell you this but the costs never stop. It is just like owning a house, car, boat, or whatever. It is best to just use and enjoy it. What I tell everyone who asks me about a large purchase is to buy the one that makes you happy because you will pay for it weather your happy or not. We love ours and can't wait to get out and use it.

Are you just fishing, or do you have a particular unit in mind? Do you plan on buying a motorhome soon?

I’m glad to see insurance made the top of your list. Just a suggestion, get an AARP RV insurance quote. You have to be 50 or over to get into the AARP but their discounts are really competitive since they get cheaper group rates from The Hartford.
