I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a fuel tank to provide additional fuel capacity for my Ford F250 Ext Cab short bed. I have decided to purchase a Transfer Flow product. They are only 135 miles from me and I can have it installed by them at their plant. The problem I'm having is deciding whether to buy the 46 gallon replacement tank or to get the 37 gallon in-bed transfer tank. I like the idea of adding 37 gallons of range but that will put me about 350 lbs from the weight limit of the E rated tires I have now. The replacement tank only adds 17 gallons of capacity but doesn't intrude in the bed and doesn't require their computer and monitor to track the fuel remaining.
The weight police can sit this one out, I'm just looking for comments from those who have aftermarket tanks and have real world experience. Especially those who have Transfer Flow Inc. products in their trucks. As far as the weight issues, as long as I am within the limits of the tires I am legal and safe so like I said, the Weight Police can sit this one out.

I have the replacement tank in my signature. It doubled my capacity to 52 gallons since I only had a 26 gallon original main tank. I love it and I have nothing in my bed.

Get the 46 gallon replacement AND the 37 gallon in bed tank.....83 gallons.
And even with the added 17 gallons you'll still be under the max tire load by roughly 215#.

I had that argument with myself and opted for the replacement tank at 60 gallons. That is a once-a-day fill when towing, and leaves the entire bed open. It also adds minimal weight, and gains 25 gallons of useable fuel. That gives a 500 mile range towing and 900 miles empty. Just my thought, yours may differ.

I like your thinking but you gonna finance the deal for me? Actually I think the OEM tank is about 45 lbs and the Transfer Flow replacement tank weighs about 170# because it is steel and the in bed tank weighs about 140#. They are heavy but then I guess they have to be.
These are the tanks I'm considering:
In the bed 37 gal tank
46 galReplacement tank

I have A 350 PSD with Super Cab long wheel base with 39 gal. stock tank with a 55 gal Trans Flow in bed with a Tonneau cover,when I tow A Jayco 288 RLS I get around 11/12 mpg.would not tow without extra tank

I had the same problem and ended up getting an aluminum tank from "American Tank" put in my bed that fits under an aluminum roll cover. I wanted to be able to take the tank to my next truck and if I replaced the factory tank I couldn't. (my tank does us up 12 inches of bed space) My tank is not a transfer tank...I had heard the 2011 Fords computer would show a code with a transfer tank. Mine is only 30 gallons but it helps a lot.

Ditto for me. I had a 30 gallon transfer tank in my bed and it was okay but a bit of a hassle and took up valuable cargo space. I went to the Titan 52 gal. replacement tank (link below) and it is wonderful. I also replaced the filler neck on my truck to the large Transfer Flow filler neck, which allows the larger big rig pumps to fit. Your truck may not need this but my early Chevy diesel had the tiny little filler hole. I go 700 miles without having to do any thing, one tank to fill and have all my cargo space available (huge deal for me).
