That lump of iron in the bed is a very low mileage Cummins 6.7

I've put over 15,000 miles on it stock since. I was beginning to wonder if it was such a good idea to swap the Cummins in at all. I knew that it smoked once in a while and when I changed oil there was fuel in it. I thought it was a leaking injector and a simple warranty claim would fix it.

I'm in total shock right now.

The moral of the story is that Ford builds great trucks and really chitty engines.

Through the whole 6.0 debacle, I blamed International. I did a double take when the 6.7 came out. As far as I am concerned, International isn't the problem. Ford is.

DON'T EVER BUY A FORD DIESEL TRUCK WITH AN ENGINE STARTING WITH "6". (6.0, 6.4, 6.7)

Now that right there is funny. You know the Ford with a spare tire, err engine. I remember when you bought the Ford and in about post #3 you said you had the 6.7C just in case. You were right!
Quite a few Forge's running around my neck of the woods.

Hope your plumbing is better than this guys.
Good luck

I love my Ford 6.8L V-10 gasoline engine. I believe it is the best motor I have ever owned. Otherwise I have nothing to add to a Ford bashing thread. BTW, I have a buddy rebuilding a 5.9 Cummins engine with only 50k on the clock because the injectors failed and the rings cracked in 3 cylinders.

No insurance. OK.
Was the truck serviced at a dealer from the beginning? If the fuel filters were changed regularly, I don't see how Ford could deny the claim.
Anyone else ever see brand new parts with rust? It can happen.

Not pointing finger at you.

I am not sure you can answer the questions I have.

I need the previous owner / operator.

Right now, I smell biodiesel or contaminated fuel, no proof, of course, only a hunch.

I am the second owner and I have no service records.

Welcome to the world of owning a Ford diesel.

What I do have is a list of every time this truck went to the dealer for warranty work. And the fuel system wasn't touched. The exhaust up pipes were, so the cab has been off once already !

I asked the tech if a service light was ever logged for water in the fuel. It turns out the ECM doesn't log those issues. Hmmm...

So why aren't we reading about 100 other trucks needing the fuel system replaced because of "contaminated" fuel, about which half are Dodges and Chevs ? And Freightliners and Peterbuilts for that matter ?

NewsW Please don't stir this pot too.

This is flat out a problem with Ford's Diesels, rather, Fords inability to stand behind their product rather than deny deny deny claims.

On second thought, I bet that Me2 poured a couple 20 oz bottled drinking water in his fuel tank just for kicks.

I bet their is a huge conspiracy with 6.4 Ford owners, they pour random bottled waters in their tank.

This is a known issue and has been going on for a while now.

Good Grief.

Thanks!
