I drove through Minnesota into South Dakota and the north wind was fierce hitting the side of my MH and was blowing me all over the road. Sure glad I didn't see any police they might have tried to arrest me for drunken driving. Sitting in Walmart parking lot in Mitchel, SD. now for the night. And yes I am having a beer after todays drive.
Heading for Mount Rushmore tomorrow. Having a ball. Alaska hear we come!!!!!

Left Iowa at noon on Fri., 5/11. Arrived in Tok on Sunday, 5/20. Were delayed at Triple G CG in Fort Nelson on Thurs. & Fri.(5/17&5/18) due to approx. two feet of snow at Steamboat Pass. After talking to local people and a commercial trucking dispatcher, it was a no-brainer to stay over. Had 4 inches at the CG. Also had eight rigs from GAH at the CG. Hope all is going well with all the GAH travelers. Thoroughly enjoying. This will end way too soon.
For future reference, highly recommend Triple G CG for facilities and personal attention by the owners and their staff, especially during our enforced layover in Fort Nelson.

Checking in from Tok as well, 5/22 here. Having a great time too ! We left Saturday and were just enough behind the snow to miss the excitement you had. For anyone interested, I am doing a trip blog for family to keep up with us, but it is public and you are welcome to check it out. Has text and pics. Go to mytripjournal.com and search for Cunninghams on parade. I know, silly name but it is a family joke. Will try and check back in later....trying to keep moving and take all the wonderfulness in!

Several of us in Tok right now! We've missed the bad snows - nothing more than flurries that we've gone through along the way. We did the TOW today - quite an adventure! I'll be checking out your blog soon cakelady - I have one there too, but not sure it's worth sharing yet.

I'm headed towards Tok from Anchorage with an overnight near Glennallen in a few hours, I'm driving an old 1978 Itasca with a missing front nose hatch towing a car, so wave if you see me going down the road.
1978 Itasca, It's old but I own it....

Enjoyed reading your blog, as it brings back memories of our trip last summer. Sorry the 541/40 back road was not open yet, as that was a nice scenic byway -- but nothing like the Icefields Parkway. So far you've stayed in a couple of the CGs we stayed in -- Teslin Lake and Congdon Creek.

I'm Tolsona wilderness rv park tonight. There is one GAH winnie here but I didn't see the people in it. I saw two more GAH rigs headed to Anchorage this afternoon.

Anyone wanting another blog on this trip, I think I'm finally brave enough to share mine. http://mytripjournal.com/cjnky
It has been FANTASTIC so far - and now we're heading to Homer. I can't believe how many more RV's from Iowa we've seen this trip compared to our previous one!

Carol, we're a little bit past you tonight, staying at Golden Nugget RV Park in Anchorage. Today was a mighty dreary, showery day driving down from Denali; hoping for better weather tomorrow! Can't complain too much, it's mostly been great weather for us. Enjoyed reading your blog and am jealous of your Artic Circle trip and also the Denali Highway. I've already decided that is on my to-do list for the next trip....
We're heading south tomorrow too, not sure how far yet into the Kenai. We'll see what the weather does and how the wind blows us! Having a great time for all who are following us along....you need to sign up for this trip next year for sure!
