Going to Gatlinburg this weekend and was wondering if I should avoid driving through Cincinnati and take the I-275 loop with my fifthwheel due poor roads and heavy traffic...any help would be appreciated

I would stay on 75 as long as it isnt rush hour, much quicker and you shouldnt have any issues at all.

What he said. Since the Reds are not playing yet and there's nothing huge going on downtown, you should be fine. If you are wanting to stop for a break and visit a RV store, swing around the east side of town and get off at ST. RT. 32 east towards Batavia. 1/2 mile off the exit is Holman RV on your left. Easy access in and out.

Enjoy your trip and be safe!

I've lived in the Cincinnati area all my life. I don't drive across the Brent Spence Bridge on I-75 if I can avoid it. The bridge and/or the cut in the hill in Ky. is always under repair, mostly because all the semis on I-74, I-75 and I-71 meet here and cross the Ohio River over that bridge. I-275E is 20 miles longer, but its a lot easier on your rig and your nerves. On the weekend, there will be less car traffic, but the semis roll on. Your choice.

Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

On the weekend I-75 usually isn't bad. Last I heard, I-75 southbound was closed in Tenn going over Jellico Mountain. Anyone know how the detour is?

We always go through on 75 on weekends, only problem is Friday between about 4-7 but still faster unless an accident.. If the slide has 75 still blocked you will have to take 25W from Jellico through Lafollette then back to the freeway but better to get on 25E at exit 29 and take it all the way to 40 then go the back way in to Galinburg on 321 I tkink. 25E is slow going two lane but not much grade.

trucks and wide loads are being routed to the West side of 75. Do know know if this is due to height limits or not. There is another thread with a link to the Tenn.DOT notice.

25 E is good mostly 4 lane road, It is not contolled access like a freeway but easy going, avoids most towns and very little traffic. Its not conytrolled access like a freeway but easy going.
