Just wondering what some of you do when your without a dump station at your disposal. (pun intended )
I know of at least one trip ill be making this summer (MIS Brooklyn Trails Campground) where the line is just unbearbly long on Monday. By 8:30-9 am its already starting to snake through the campground.
Was hoping to avoid it and maybe find someplace else less crowded down the road. Do other campsites allow you to use their facilities for a fee? I know some Camping Worlds do.

As for other campgrounds, most will chg and I would also look up T/A's and other gas stations that offer a dump station. Worst case, dump in a bucket at home and use your toilet, I use to do that with my sailboat, not nice but works in a pinch.

Just hit the road without emptying the tank. Find someplace along the way or close to home and don't sweat it. We often haul it home for a couple reasons: Sloshing breaks up the materials, and there is a state park near the house where we can dump free of charge. No way am I waiting in line. If push came to shove, and we were pressed for time, I would leave the tank full until the next trip, then dump on the way into the campground (done that once or twice too). Not a big deal...

There are lots of places to dump other than the campground you are staying at. Google it and you'll find entire websites dedicated to it. When I camp at the racetrack near my house the line is often as long as you describe so I dump when I get home at a local rv dealership (for free).

Flying J (Pilot) truck stops usually have a dump station. Look on their website for RV services listed at specific facilities. Check out this site maybe you can find something close.

Lots of state & national parks which have DS will allow dumping for a nominal fee - usually $5 or $10. But some charge admittance fees as well. Never done so, but I believe most private CG's would as well.
Once in awhile you find one at a rest stop. Used to be all of the Flying J's and Pilots, etc. had them, but I hear they're now charging $15 & a lot of them have closed theirs. Best to scout out possibilities on your way in to your destination.
Another idea might be to dump the day before you leave.

Hi,
You can install a sewer clean out at your house, I did it, then a couple of friends also did it at their house too!
You can find out from the county or city where your sewer was supposed to be installed, and hopefully find the line buried about 4 - 6' down in the location they indicate on the plans for your house and tract of homes. Then put in a cleanout about 3' from your home, or near the sidewalk, and use that.
Check out the local RV sales place. One near my friend's home charged about $10, so they installed their own at home, figuring in about 2 years it would pay for itself.
Sometimes the City will have a RV dump station at one of their sewer pump stations, or another designated location, (park) installed so that people will not dump in the streets or into a storm drain someplace. Usually these are free.

Most RV parks will sell you a dump session for a fee that they set. State parks will let you dump only for paying the "day use" fee. Most federal campgrounds will allow you to dump any time their dump station is not inside of a gate. Another option is to take it home and dump into a sewer clean out or leave the waste in your tanks until the next time you DO have a dump station available. If weather is cold at the time just double the chemical you put in your black tank and let it sit. Warm weather, just leave it till next trip. It won't spoil

Never thought of that. But if I do find a dump station along the way, the bucket is a great idea for rinsing out the tanks using the feature that came with my TT. I'll just have to add more water/chemicals in the black tank and let it slosh around between the dump sattion and home.
Its win-win!! I can do a thorough job of rinsing out my tanks at my own pace at home and no one has to wait for me at the dump station.
Although Im a dump station rookie, I have spent a lot of time at boat launches watching people fart around!!

I would dump and rinse the night before and only have to deal with minimal the next day either at home or leave it until next trip out.
Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.
