I have been A GS roadside assistance member for several months now. When I took my motor home out of storage several weeks ago I noticed after driving out of the warehouse (about 40 yards) that a inside rear tire was flat and off the rim. I called GS for assistance, and not having used them before I was really not sure how everything worked. I was told by the GS rep on the phone that the "service call" (trip?) was paid for but the charge for blowing the tire up would be $110 (what???). When I questioned that I was told that GS would pay for the "service call" (or trip) but I was responsible for the parts and labor. Is that the way it works with GS?
BTW, I paid a local guy $30 to seat the tire back on the rim and blow it up.
Am I just naive to think that everything would be paid for?
A tire add on feature to the policy would make a difference I would think
It happened to me in my car years ago
They pick you up but don't replace parts and labor

I have been wondering how the GS Assistance could operate a low premium, you have explained it....
Firstly, I support your choice's you made.
From your experience....the value of $110 was still good value if the weather was adverse and you would have got dirty/greasy had you not been able to resolve the issue by yourself on the spot if immoblized.
You resolved it in a more effecient way by being able to organize a $30 resolution within those specific circumstances that time.
I myself would still have some kind of Roadside Assistance plan designed around the idea that I might have to resolve the less problematic issues myself like you did and have 'roadside coverage' in place for the time I might have to be lifted off (TV and/or TT) the road and onwards to a repair shop miles and miles away.
