Friends,
I went online for a few minutes to do some comparisons and I am really struggling to find real variances.
I will tell you what I would love however. I would really get a great deal of value if some of you would help with doing some site visits for me. We are always trying to get better at everything we do. I would love to use this forum to learn from all of you about everything.

I have a quick example. I got to visit a store last fall near San Francisco and I like the selection and would love to shop here. My issue is I live just past the end of earth in Alaska. I need a new toilet since my 30+ year old galaxy toilet has had it. I can buy a bravura replacement in Anchorage at my local rv store for $265.00. Camping world has it on sale for $228.79 plus $5.00 extra shipping and some unknown amount of shipping cost since you have no calculator to tell me what it will cost it looks like I have to get to a checkout screen to see what shipping will cost. I look in the shipping policy and it has charges by weight. I have no idea how much the toilet weighs but it must be heavy since there is a 5 dollar extra charge to ship it. Then I see the clause 48 states only so the chart is useless for Alaska. So I then go somewhere else to shop and am actually upset that I wasted 10 mins trying to find out what shipping will cost . Amazon has it for $203.38 with free shipping even to Alaska. Who will I buy from? Not camping world.

Even if you did ship to Alaska, I think the price point would make the average person shop and then buy from the lowest price store.

I have noticed the prices at the store and on line aren't always the same. Is it because of the overhead of the stores, and sometimes you get great deals which you pass on to consumers via the web site? I was shopping for one item recently which was $55 at the store and $30 via the web site.
I understand the overhead of the stores, and appreciate the investment CW has made.

I have found CW prices to be consistent with other retailers, sometimes they are better and sometimes they are not. Last year I ordered three A&E window awnings and when I included the S&H charges, CW beat all the local and online competitors. Although I have been extremely pleased with the staff in Chichester, NH, it would be great to see a store in southern New England (hint-hint).

Yep, I recently had a light rocker switch burn out and priced to get one and replace it myself. Simple and about a 10 min. job. The DW insisted that I take it to CW where we purchased it and have it replaced under warranty. I was also having issues with the tank sensors so I decided to go ahead take it over there. The service adviser stated that they don't stock the switch and would have to order it. I told them to go ahead and order it and check the sensors while I was there. When she came to get me because the trailer was ready she said that they did find a switch and installed it under warranty.
This is a $2.00 part and only takes about 5-10 minutes to swap. The labor to change the part was $103.00. Wow! Really. I have an automotive service background of about 25 years and find this just ridiculous. This should have been a swapped out at n/c or a reasonable price.

I'm sorry to laugh but I agree, that is ridiculous. I would have not even presented a bill for that as I would have been too embarrassed.
When I worked at a local car dealership in the shop area we had people complain about the price it took to install a tail light. The bulb was just a small amount but the labor involved was around 2 tenths. At 70 some dollars per hour it was a huge amount compared to the price of the bulb. I think they soon started throwing in the labor on some of the small things and a lot of people noticed and appreciated it.

Ok Marcus,
I just purchased a new bike rack and looked at CW first:
CW Bike Rack
Then on amazon:
Amazon Bike Rack
Amazon even with shipping was around $60.00 less than CW.
Sorry, but had to go with Amazon.

I only buy from CW if I have too. EBAY is less expensive and I dont have to leave the house.
Also, I purchased my 5er from CW. I had to price this unit from out of state dealers and give the deal to CW to see if they would match it. It took them 4 weeks to decide but eventually gave in. I bought my RV 8,000$ less then the "show special" ! LOL if they we more competative, they would get more of my money.
