My daughter will be attending a one week camp at Penn State this summer and I was looking for some nearby campground recommendations, something with full hookups. There's the KOA just north, but a bit pricey. Also, a place in Lewistown, but a bit more of a drive twice a day.

Yes, the KOA is pricey but it is one of the best KOA's we've stayed at anywhere. The place is immaculate and sports the cleanest bathrooms of any CG we've ever visited. Family-owned and they are hands-on managers. We've stayed there on and off for nearly 20 years. On weekends the Amish family next door come through the CG to sell their fresh-baked goods. Nightly hay-ride. Nice pool, just not very large. Plenty of shady or partially-shaded sites to choose from. Pond for fishing. Pancake breakfast on weekends, also an ice cream social.
Fort Bellefonte CG is just down the road about a quarter mile or so. Prices will be comparable to the KOA.

I grew up near there. My sister and her DH stay at Black Moshannon. They tell me that the sites are nice but trend to be quite small. She says our MH wouldn't make it.
That is their place of choice to stay for the Penn State games.

Thanks for the info everyone. The state parks are a "no-go" since they don't have full hookups. I was originally thinking the KOA, but the reviews frequently mention how narrow the sites are. With 2 slide-outs, that's likely a problem.
I'll have to look into Fort Bellefonte and Seven Mountains.

Not necessarily - depends which section of the CG you're in. If you find you will wind up there give them a call ASAP. They are frequently booked solid on weekends in the summertime. If you happen to need a site during "arts week" at PSU you won't be able to book a site at the KOA or Ft. Bellefonte.
