Although I didn't get my insurance through GS I have had GMAC Insurance for many years. We have had one catastrophic Comprehensive loss and GMAC handled it very efficiently. Hurricane Charlie went through the storage lot and GMAC covered over $52,000. They authorized all repairs as soon as they were uncovered by either the repairing dealer or myself. They even kept the claim open for several months after we picked up the MH and traveled the next season.
The deductible was $100 and my premium did not increase. I like them as they seem to understand RV'ing and also allow me to reduce coverages when stored and refund premiums. Price isn't an end all with respect to insurance.

I forgot to memtion in my first post that GMAC is the insurance provider for GS.

They, GMAC and GS, have been the best for our insurance needs.

I've had National Interstate from "day 1", in 11 years, one claim (windshield) and all was taken care of without fanfare.
My deductable went back up....but I expected that. Right now...I have no deductable...according to their "vanishing deductable" program.

Always interested in different things, while in Nashville some years ago, I need some things for my motorhome....was at the Yogi Bear...right down the road from CW....saw the insurance kiosk and spoke to the salesperson. Turned out that Good Sam is really GMAC...and their program was considerable more than what I already have (had).

So what's the bargain?

The bargain isn't always in price! My deductibles or premiums have never increased as long as the accident wasn't my fault, with GMAC. Have had no less than 4 windshields replaced with zero deductible here in Florida.
But we all do what we are the most comfortable with.

I've had. with any of my vehicles...over the past 40-odd years 3 "accidents". Two different insurance companies, the police report gave either me or my wife ZERO percent "at fault".
Never had any premium increase due to this. (deductables, as far as I know is your choice, small or large) however, we've had "administrative" and other unknown reaasons for a premium increase even with no accidents, tickets, nothing.

Thanks for everyones' input on this thread. As you can see from the various responses, insurance is not a "one size fits all" product. We have heard your concerns and I am happy to announce that Good Sam is launching a new insurance agency to represent not just one insurance company, but most of the top RV insurance companies. The Good Sam Insurance Agency will be able to provide you a choice of carriers, coverage, and price.

The Good Sam Insurance Agency will be fully operational in a couple of months. Then, we will be able to offer options not only for your RV and autos, but also, your home, boat, motorcycle, ATV and golf carts. Stay tuned for the announcement about the launch of the agency, then call us and see if we can find you a better deal for your insurance.

I have a question as to how quotes are calculated. Over the weekend I received several quotes on my new RV we are purchasing. One was thru an independent agent whose quote was with GMAC. Today I received a quote thru Good Sam and it was $67/yr. higher. Now don't get me wrong I would much rather go thru Good Sam due to their track record but just wondering how the independent agent can be cheaper than with the Good Sam discount. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Thanks for your question. There are many factors that could produce a different rate. However, if both quoted the same exact scenarios, the GMAC quote through Good Sam should be at least the same price as through the independent agent, if not lower. If you will email me your GMAC quote numbers, I will be able to research and let you know why the difference.

Bob, when we bought our camper a couple years ago, we went through Camping World for the insurance. It is done through Allied (A Nationwide Company). Is this considered under the Good Sam branch as well? I'm not totally disatisfied as pay less than $300/year.

Thanks for the question and your business. Yes, CWI Insurance agency is part of the Good Sam Insurance Agency and Allied will be one of the companies we are proud to continue to represent.
