I just tried to buy a pair of new Ultra Tyre Gard (Colonial White)
tire covers (bus size) this morning. The price was attractive at $35.49 USF even though there was no difference being a GS member or not.

Being in Canada, I went to the international check-out and found that it would cost me an additional $31.87 for shipping even though I am a GS member. On top of that was another charge of $23.87 for duties. So the end total cost to me was $90.56. This is absurd for two tire covers.

I can understand that there may be some duty but even excluding it, the cost to me is still $67.36. My rv dealer's online catalogue here in Canada has the very same covers (brand/model) for $52.95 without my 10% discount (for being a preferred customer of his). With my dealer's disount, my cost is $47.65.

As a Canadian shopper, Camping World needs to step up somehow on their international shipping charges otherwise there is no advantage whatsoever for a GS member.

Marcus, is there anything in the works to help us Canadian shoppers with these issues?

Thanks for your comments regarding our shipping costs to Canada as compared to some other companies. Your communication has been shared with our management team so that we can follow up on this matter.

We're in the automotive parts business and IMO, USPS is the way to go to Canada if the part fits post office requirements as to weight, etc. We rarely ship anything UPS to Canada. USPS is cheaper, seems to clear customs faster, less paperwork, and the customer is happier. Most of our customers from Canada request USPS.

Yep. USPS. Some companies won't ship USPS as it is apparently harder to track.

Dear Marcus:
If I am ordering something from a U.S. based store, I watch very closely on how it is shipped. UPS have a brokerage fee plus ?? that is charged to the Canadian Consumer when it is delivered, this is above the regular shipping charges. Last item, special fit manufacted part for RV, had a declared value of $130.00. Part and shipping charges were charged and paid to the U.S. dealer, then when UPS arrived at our door we had to pay another $95.00. Another item from a U.S. light dealer (LED signal lights) had a declared value of $75.00 and was shipped via USPS. Shipping charges were less that $8.00 and when we picked it up at the Canadian Post Office they said that there were NO additional charges. This has happened before with USPS shipping.
To use an example of a U.S. based company that sells to Canadians would be Crutchfield.com audio. They have or have use of a Canadian warehouse that supplies products to the Canadian Consumer. They also have a link to a Canadian based/priced website that we can order from. When we call for customer support, the phone is answered in Virginia, but the final shipment is from the Canadian location. The prices are slightly higher than U.S. but that is normal for almost anything. I do not know the ins and outs of shipping items across the border for companies like youself, warehouse to warehouse. We have ordered other items from different companies, that also a have a sticker return address, the same as Crutchfield, so I don't know if Crutchfield own the warehouse?? or it is private company that serves many companies.

We and many others would love to see a Camping World store in Ontario, either in the Toronto area or Burlington to Niagara area. The competition would definitely be good for the Consumer and might help stabilize the prices we are charged.

All, sorry for the delay in not responding to this thread. We have been diligently reviewing our Canadian shipping/warehousing options. However, I do not have an update to share at this time, but I can tell you that work is being done to make this a more economical channel for you to shop. Please bare with us as we work through many details. For example, one of the details is that many of our products do not have proper multilingual packaging, and as a result, we cannot warehouse them and sell them direct to consumer as a domestic Canadian retail company. That's just one minor detail that affects a small portion of products that we've identified, but there are many additional considerations that are being reviewed. We still have every intention to move into Canada as soon as possible and provide faster and more economical service for everyone.
