Any one had experience towing 4 flat a 2011 Honda Odyssey. I've talked to Remco and they say it's possible by following the emergency towing procedures (run through the gears every couple hundred miles). I realize it's likely to void out my warranty. Thank you!
Did you read your Owners Manual? I believe it says not to tow four down.
With Odyssey's, the lack of owner's manual endorsement for four-down towing may not mean much. Although Honda pulled their sanction for towing Odyssey's starting with the 2005 models, there's a wealth of anecdotal evidence showing that, mechanically, the 2005 through 2010's can be towed four-down without adverse consequences. Several of us here on the forum have been doing so for some time, using the same procedures detailed in the manuals of the earlier models.
There was a major redesign for 2011, though, which could change the picture somewhat. But, Remco stays on top of this stuff, so if they say it's towable as-is, they're probably right. Of course, if they're wrong, the cost of learning that will come out of your wallet, not their's.
Meant to address this is my earlier post, but forgot...
Contrary to popular belief, installation of the Remco pump (or a base plate, or any other towing equipment) does NOT void your warranty. This same debate has circulated for years regarding the addition of "performance parts" to vehicles.
When Congress passed the "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act", they addressed this question directly:
"...the Act prohibits motor vehicle manufacturers from canceling motor vehicle warranties solely because the owner has installed the products of 'outside vendors' on the motor vehicles."
Of course, if the installation of an aftermarket part actually causes damage (or, in cases such as the Remco pump, fails to prevent damage), that's a whole different thing and needs to be taken up with the manufacturer of the aftermarket part.
I spoke to Remco 3 different times about towing the new 2011 Odyssey's. Each Remco representative said it's "towable, 4 flat, as is. Follow emergency towing procedures in manual." With this info, I just setup my 2011 Odyssey with tow bars and braking system. Made my first tow of 150 miles yesterday (Monday). Everything seems to be A OK. Will have a longer test in two weeks as I tow to South Dakota, 700 miles. Keep your fingers crossed. Will make another post in two weeks.
I towed our 2010 Honda Odyssey from FL to Canada and California with no issues. I never went past 250 miles without going thru the gears (owners manual under towing)though ..
I now have a 2011 Odyssey and don't believe I can do the same way??
