crew cab short bed, owned several of them.
Never felt I needed the long bed, and its a TON easier to park, the thing is already long.
I have a pullrite superglide, so the shortbed towing my 5er is a moot point.
If you use the bed all the time and need the extra space, go for it - I've only had a couple times over the years where I wish I had a couple extra feet.

I have a short bed also. The spot I park my trailer in is tight, as is all the beach spots we camp in. There have been many times that we just made it in, thanks to the shorter truck and much sharper turning radius. That being said, my pullrite sliding hitch does work great, but is expensive and I need help taking it out if I need to. I also can't carry much in the back of my truck. you just need to figure out what you are going to be doing and decide which tradeoff works for you

Short bed= small FUEL tank
Long bed= LARGER FUEL tank and extra room for aux tank, that way you decide when and where
too take a break.

I think it depends on how you use your unit. If you full-time...you might need the long bed. I have a short bed with a manual slider hitch and love it. I have all of the storage i need in the 5er bay. If I bring my 2xhonda gens, they go in the front of the hitch in my tv bed no problem. I carry my bikes on a pin box mounted rack. I haven't felt I needed more bed space so far and since I use my tv as my regular ride, the short bed sure makes life easier.

Not true, new GM short beds have 36 gallon tank, I have one.
My deciding factor is that I use mine as a daily driver and have to occasionally park in parking garages in downtown L.A. so a long bed is out of the question, this is my second short bed CC Chevy. If I didn't have that restriction I'd probably have a long bed for the same reasons mentioned. A lot depends on the pin box configuration of your trailer too, mine has a good offset so I can get the trailer almost 90 to the truck before it touches, only used the slider a couple times.
