I'm seriously thinking of buying a used c class Jayco with 2 slides. The rv is about6 years old. Knowing that problems can arise from anything I'm asking with type slide is more dependable, electric or hydrolic operated. Not wanting to start a war here, just looking for info on pros and cons. Thanks for any thoughts on this. John

I like electric. No oil, no hoses, no leaks, no springs no pumps, no reservoir tank.

Like Hyd. since it can move weight with less power and faster. We have 2 slides and jacks. We're set up in half the time as friends with electric. We had jacks only on last rig and in 14 years only had one line leak which was easy to change.

I have had both. I like hyd better. Seems to operate quicker. No problems with leaks. (At least so far). Good luck.

Had hyd slides and gear on previouse 5ver had a leak at the manifold blown oring no problem just messy, they are faster than electric hands down. I work with hyd at my job only downfall is not if you will have a leak it is when and where. If on the landing gear not a big problem if on a line to slide cylinder or a cylinder leak now you may have oil inside the rv depending on where the cylinders are located and all the bedroom slides I have seen the cylinder is under the bed not a good place to have oil spraying out. In my perfect world I would have hyd landing gear, stab jacks and electric slides.
I dont rent out space in my brain

I have had both in the past, currently no slides but when we had them I liked the hydraulic much better. only one suggestion I replaced the cheap looking hoses with good ones I had them made at a local shop that specializes in hoses for equipment of every kind. did not cost much and you keep the originals in case of emergency. jmo will

Yet.... Most people continue to drive their cars (with their totally hydraulic brakes and hydro assisted steering) without a second thought... Go figure.
