I have friends who stayed there, survived the experience. They even tool the city bus to downtown, and the bus driver bringing them back told them they were crazy to be in that part of town at night.

It's fine for a short stay. Police station across the street and security fence around the entire park. Nice folks run it. They told us that many people going for Dr's appts or procedures stay there. They are even staying open winters to accomodate persons needing easy access to hospitals and doctor. We would stay again without question.

St. Louis RV park really is a parking lot, but it is fine for an overnight stay. As with any large city you need to be aware of what's going on around you if you go out for a walk at night.

When we visit our daughter, who lives near downtown St Louis, we boondock in St Charles at Ameristar Casino in their parking lot. It's very secure, and they don't insist you spend money in the casino, although they have a convenient shuttle to get you there. The restaurants in e casino are good, and the parking lot security is very friendly.

I mentioned staying where you plan to stay and our daughter said, "No way!"

avoid downtown and the Casino Queen all together....Casino Queen is in East St Louis! Which is very similar to the downtown Detroit area. Eureka is a great safe location and so is St Peters...neither is too far from downtown. If your acceptable with a Walmart parking lot for 1 night, take hiway 55 south the 192 mile marker(Arnold). That is the closest and easiest "in and out" and safest Walmart to downtown

And AVOID downtown and the queen!!!!

I stayed there last July, while it is no "resort" i would stay again. it has a small pool, police department across the street and well I did not feel unsafe at anytime while there. friendly owners as well. I would stay there again if I were going through there.

You obviously can make your own decision's here, but be aware, the police station being across the street has no bearing on anyone's safety. There was a murder just the other day in E St Louis, right across the street from the police station.
The police station across from the RV lot has had officers personal vehicles broken into, on numerous occasions, bet they didn't mention that. I personally would choose my wife's safety over avoiding driving in a little traffic.
I hate to sound down on my city, but that is the reality, it is not safe. There is no way to sugar coat it.

we stayed at Cahokia RV Parque across the drive in Illinois. Park was okay but at night every train going over the Mississippi River crossed near by and we heard train horns and engines all night long.
Next time I would stay in Historic St Charles at Sundermeier RV Park
