We too, bought a house after 9 years of fulltiming... WORST decision I was ever a part of...
Even after 5/6 year of living here, still wish we were fulltiming almost every day but wife said no way..
She enjoyed fulltiming while we were on the road, but she had a brain-lock or something that told her to settle down in a stik house..

I really miss going south in the winter, heading north in the summer, moving whenever the mood hit us.. Or when we wanted a of scenery...

Tried the Snowbird route for two years after fulltiming, but wasn't the same fulltime freedom for me since I knew we had to go back to a fixed abode..

My ole head was wrapped around being totally free from owning a house and everything that is required to keep it up along with paying real estate taxes on it..
Even when we were not there, the expenses of keeping it kept hitting the pocket book.. You cannot suspend real estate taxes, home insurance, some utility bills still had to be paid.. That total freedom we had was just missing...

I know that most people are happy with house ownership, but I'm not one of them... Just feels like I'm too tied down to this place...

At my age I really don't consider home ownership as an Investment but more as a burden...

I do wish you well in your new adventure thou..

Well you know the old saying, "if momma ain't happy....."

I'm in a similar boat...

We bought a house 5 weeks ago after full timing for over 13 years. We enjoyed every minute of it. I now have a workshop that doesn't depend on the weather and wife has a quilt room where she doesn't have to put everything away to eat. The Freightliner goes Tuesday, trading for a car. The 40' Teton will sit in the second driveway until it's sold. The house and 5 acres will be cheaper then full timing. Insurance alone dropped almost $2000. Wife always said I never slowed down full timing, maybe I still won't, but now I won't drive 400-500 miles a day or more. The car will get 30+ mpg instead of 9 in the Freightliner. Gas is much cheaper then diesel.
The only regret is that we never made it to Alaska.
Most important we are closer to the granddaughters, 3 months and 3 years.

We part time. All I know is I hate it when we leave the cabin for the road, and (in a couple of more months) I hate it when we get off the road and back into the cabin.

I think we have the best of both worlds, sounds like you will too. Good luck on your new place and rig.

I just spent the whole afternoon catching up on your blog Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed reading it, your posts about your decision to buy your winter home in AZ, then finding it and moving in were great to read. I love your new home!

So glad you are still getting to go out on the road, maybe one of these years we will catch up with you in your spot at 'Q' :-)

My hubby wanted to have a permanent home in one spot & promised me we'd go south in the winters. He said no this winter, & just yesterday told me we wouldn't go next winter. I realize now he just wanted what he wanted with no thought to what I wanted. I miss the freedom of the 5th wheel. Now I have the burden of taking care of a home for him so he can watch t.v. So much for trust. There won't be enough money for me to go alone. Think about agreeing to something you aren't sure of. A spouse may not always care about your happiness if it's at odds to what they want.
