We use Dish as well and have never had issues calling to get local channels...I usually ask for a supervisor or tech support as you will always get someone US based who is not just ready out of a manual in a cubicle.

So if you have dish network at home, what are the charges to put your home Dish reciever in your RV. I have cable and was thinking of getting Dish. Direct does not have HD in our area.

There is none. You simply unhook the receiver and hook it up in the rv. The only expense would be an additional Dish with the appropriate LNB, a tripod or other type of stand, and whatever cable you need. You'll need to learn how to find the satellites and check the signal, but it's not that difficult.

We have DirectTV but no mobile or pay/go. When we leave we use an extra receiver from home and use it in the TT. When you run your set up, it will give you an error code, you can call Dish and use their automated system to send your unit a code. Receptions then starts.

Pretty much the same ordeal with DirecTV. Finally I had to LIE to go from a "Mobile Account" to a "Residential Account". We FT but only move 3 or 4 times a year so the Residential Account works pretty well for us. All that local channel stuff has to do with the FCC and a bunch of their rulings - in other words - OUR federal government's hand in the pie.

Is it worth the aggrevation? Hands down, if you understand 8th grade math expression: DirecTV > Dish > Cable > Bat Wing > Rabbit Ears with Tin Foil > Rabbit Ears without Tin Foil.

Direct does not have HD in your area?? Guess you will have to explain this to me. Everyone uses the same satellite, dish and HD receivers. How can you not get HD?

Dish has local HD here in Bakersfield, Direct does not

I' m new at sat. always had cable. Before I get locked in to two years of sat. I want to make sure it's what I want. The new Hopper on Dish might be a problem for RV use.
