We are going to start a search for a new TV. The trailer is 31ft. Are there any issues with a short bed vs long bed? The truck will have a crew cab.

Longer wheel base may be slightly more stable when everything else is equal but nothing wrong with towing with a SB either.

As long as you are talking about a TT and not a fifth wheel the major difference in wheel base length is handling. Linger wheelbase will handle a longer trailer easier than a short bed. But personally I would not own a short bed. Two feet less cargo space in just not a something I am willing to loose.

Had both and towed with both. Personally I would own a SB and do. Two less feet of truck hanging out there and the difference is so little few would notice.

No noticeable difference in towing travel trailers. Fifth wheel might require a sliding hitch.

I tow the trailer in my sig with a short bed crew cab. Total length is approx. 34 feet, no problem. With the crew cab the truck is actually a fairly good size.

I have had both, and currently own a short bed. If I had it to do all over again I would definitely go with the long bed. The short bed is ok for most things, but more than half the time hauling something, the damn tailgate is down. Plywood, drywall, lumber, a couple dirt bikes, etc. I'd rather have the long bed. The only time my short bed has come in handy is going thru a drive thru.

I currently have both.
Bed length has nothing to do with how well the truck handles a trailer. The trucks wheel base does though.
However both of my crew cab trucks have over 142" + wheel base so handling a 5er/pintle/GN/bumper pull trailer issue with them is nil. Both have a longer longer wheelbase than my long bed truck.
Not all shortbeds are the same length. Generally they run in the 6' 6" to less than 5' depending on brand and model line.

I've used nothing but short wheel base trucks. I pull in a lot of wind and will say they handle very well with the 5th. I finally went to the Pullright SG, and really love the hitch. Takes away the worry of possibly not thinking and hitting the cab. I have room for extra fuel tank in bed and SG hitch. I went from 38.5 ft. trailer to the 32ft. trailer this past summer, and can't tell that one pulls any differant then the other. I think if I went long bed I would go with the dually.
