One of the reasons I picked mine up from the dealer in Indiana,it was long trip, but about sixes on the freight or picking it up.

We wanted to pick our RV up as well. The dealer indicated I would have to have a CDL liscense. Since RV transport from the Goshen area involves significant money and many transport companies, I would not be surprised if the manufacturers have contracted agreements with the transport people to haul, and perhaps the haulers are union. Not sure.

Think we are talking about different things here. Yes if you pick up a Rv for a dealer you need a CDL as you are pulling Commercial.

If you PURCHASE a Rv from a Indiana dealer near the plant the Rv is yours and you are not pulling commericial.

Guess the Dealer can say what they want - but it sounds like you already know you wouldn't need a CDL License. It sounds like many reasons from the Dealer out there as to why it has to be transported, but if they understand you will be forced to buy from a Dealer in Goshen they may re-think it.

It is a complex issue. In general Manufacturers do not want to be in the dealer business that is why they have a dealer network and they do not want to take business away from the dealers.

It is also a insurance and liability issue. Who owns the unit and who is responsible for its loss and any legal claims resulting from injury.
Most manufacturers will drect you to a nearby dealer and you can purchase from that dealer then you own the unit and the resonsibility is yours.

You can save many transport $$ doing that and the trip can be a shake down trip for the unit.
