dspencer wrote: Hey ib516, pm me and i will be happy to assist you in getting a fair shake on a new CRV or anything for that matter. I have been in the business for 21 years and was in the Honda business for 10 years. FYI, the actual cost of wheel locks and splash guards is approximately $200 these days.
Factory (stealer installed) splash guards and wheel locks maybe! You can buy McGard or Gorilla locks for $10/15 and splash guards with the vehicle logo for $15/30 installed at most aftermarket shops!
Just another example of how the Stealer's rip you off!!! and why people hate them!!!

BTW for anyone that thinks having the stealer remove mud flaps is not a big deal think again. Yes the manufactures stamp the holes in the fender lip for the mud flaps, wheelhouse moldings or flares.
But as soon as you run a screw though that hole you have removed the paint, primer and e-coating from that hole! If not installed correctly (silicon sealer on the hole before the screw goes through) it will rust!
Remove the added option and it will rust sooner and neither is covered by the manufactures rust through protection! Drill or add a screw to a body panel and it rusts it is on you not the manufacture. Something to think about!

If you drive the CX-5, let us know how it does!! I have read that it handles great, but cannot get my wife to just go test one until she is completely ready to buy. A diesel version would be nice.
I have priced the new Ford Escape, and came away surprised at how expensive it is comparatively equipped as the CX-5, but it did have the 2.0L Ecoboost motor....but 6K more??!! Will have to try one just to see.
I drove the CX5 yesterday. Nice little unit. The engine would be weak if you loaded it up with passengers or cargo and headed to the mountains, but it's fine (IMO) for a commuter and it gets great mpg. I didn't find anything I didn't like about it.

Except the rear bumper is plastic and will not rust. and even with that they use existing screw holes so there will be no damage! take out a screw, mount splash guard and reinstall screw(s).

Well that would work if they put them on bumpers, 90% of the mud flaps dealers install are put on the wheel house openings. So unless you have plastic fenders you SOL. ib is looking at SUV not DRW trucks.

I did (online only). Building one that is comparable options wise to the others I am looking at, a Tiguan comes in at just under $42,000

With all the info available on the Internet I don't find new car buying that difficult (compared to 15 years ago). You can just shop/negotiate for the best price, view the window sticker and all rebates without leaving your home. When you are ready to buy, you call the Internet sales dept of the dealer and tell them what you are going to pay. Only go in the dealer to test drive.
That's what I did when I purchased my 2012 F150 2 weeks ago and I got it for only $3k over a similar used vehicle (2 years older).

That works great when you know what you want. When I buy a new Dodge Truck its easy, go in and order all the towing/hauling stuff....When the wife decides she wants ''something new'' to drive it stinks. So many options available, basically every dealer has a couple cars she thinks she wants to drive I try to steer her from some but she really wants to try them all. This turns into a multi-weekend ordeal for us.
Seriously I can buy a new truck, boat, quad, and RV faster then she can pick out green beans at the store...
