I did that route about 3 yr ago in a small rental truck towing a car on a dolly. I do not recall any problems at all w/steep grades.

We only have big hills here in the south. Running the interstate you will have no problem.

I drove I75 to I81 (from the east though) last August and found that there are hills but nothing that my gaser couldn't handle. Then I81 south was good into Virginia where I cut back east again at highway 66.

There aren't any grades that would be an issue for you, we've run between Wytheville, VA and Birmingham, Al many times in a 35' gasser with a toad with no problem. Also driven Harrisburg to Wytheville with no problem.
The only issue you will have is between Fort Payne and Gadsden, AL on I-59, the road surface is horrible, some of it is under construction. Route 11 runs parallel to I-59, it may take a little longer but will be a lot easier on your rig.

Nothing significant on either route. Much easier on the rig than through western U.S.

Cut across early and get I 71 to Louisville then I 65 to I 68 much better fewer high hills.

I got 11 mph with a 35' gasser and toad.
