While using the on-board water pump I get a small amount of water coming out of the city connection, causing the pump to run two or three times an hour. Is there a check valve somewhere or what keeps the two separated?

There is a check valve built into the hose connection. Take off the screws and pull it out, unscrew the check valve and replace it. About a 3$ item. Many of these check valves get buggered by people pushing in the check valve after they have pressurized their system with antifreeze. Correct procedure is zero pressure in system, push check valve and have someone start pump for a few strokes only. Once pink comes out, release check valve.

Before you go through all that, just hook up the hose to the city water connection and run some water through the check valve. Quite often it will re-seat and seal up properly.

Try to find a brass / bronze one if you can, the pot metal ones only last a few years. My last good one was about ten bucks from a local RV store.

It's been leaking a couple years, mostly use city connection so haven't worried about repair. Have a dry camp planned so didn't want to worry about turning the onboard pump off and on.

I did find a brass fitting and says has a brass seat so maybe this one will last.
