I have 6345 Magnetek converter charger and I'm upgrading with the 4645 upgrade kit with wizard charger (smart charger). I have a honda eu2000i generator. The Honda can be run with the eco throttle.

My question is; When plugging in the Honda to recharge the batteries will running it on eco throttle provide enough power to maximize the recharge process or should I run it with that feature off?

Thanks

Plug the generator into the shore power cable of your RV. Turn off eco, be sure the refer and water heater are on gas and Microwave breaker is turned off and charge away.

with the eco throttle on, it will run at low rpm till it senses the need for more power and raise the rpm if it is necesary. if it stays at low rpm, then the genny is putting out enough juice to power the charger. the newer style chargers really dont require much juice.

I like to use the eco mode and listen to speed of the generator. It will rev harder when pulling more amps. Kinda tells me what charge state I am in...

If I was needing to operate a 50-60AMPs Converter/charger then I would leave the eco mode off...

Making sure the refer and hot water heater are on gas is a great pointer and one I'll (try to) remember. I don't understand why I should have the microwave breaker off if not in use?

Thanks badboy368 and RoyB. I'll give the eco throttle a try and check results.

If your generator won't run ANYTHING you plug into it at ECO throttle it will just rev up until it can.

For charging your battery using the power converter, it makes absolutely no difference whether eco is on or off. Either way, the converter will get the same amount of power delivered to it. With eco off, the converter might get more power for a few seconds when it first starts up, which is totally insignificant in terms of charging the battery. The only time IMO you need to turn eco off is when starting a device that's close to maxing out the generator, which would include most microwave ovens or an air conditioner. With an 80 amp converter, maybe eco should be off, but with a 45 amp converter, totally unnecessary IMO.

ECO off is just to improve instant surge performance.
There is no surge with the converter, just a steady power requirement.

I use a 1000 honda but I always have the eco off at first in case the batteries are real low because my charger can trip it off. Once the batteries have come up in a few minute I flip it to eco and let it do its thing. As mentioned once you hear it slow down the batteries are coming up and not drawing as much.
