First time owner of a 2100XC Spendide unit. What laundry detergent and fabric softener seems to work rhw best with these units? Thanks, Mike

Any compact washer requires the HE detergent, any fabric softner, just use less. I have a Whirlpool compact and use the Costco Kirkland brand HE detergent.

we use the Dollar store both on the road and at home. Never had a problem. There are only a couple of companies that make all those brands so if you follow directions 2 tablespoons of soap and a 1/2 cap of softener then add a cap of warm water into dispenser with softener.

I have used Purex soap for the last 2 yrs with my Splendide, never a problem. As others have said, use less soap and softner, should work fine.

We loved the Purex 3 in 1 sheets. Cut them in half or thirds. Throw some in a zip loc bag. No liquids to mess with. But, can't find them now.

Do NOT use dryer sheets in the dryer. Those sheets cause problems... do a search and you can read all about it. Just do not use washer or dryer sheets.
Liquid HE - and it does not matter what brand. I like Whisk. HE comes in regular, 2X and 3X concentrations. Use sparingly. A little goes a long way.
And I always put my washer on "EXTRA RINSE" because getting the soaps out of the clothes is important.
And once you start using the washing machine... Wipe the inside dry with one of those quick dry towels(and the inside of the door) and don't forget to wipe out the pocket in the rubber gasket.
There's a rubber gasket just inside the door...grey and "U" shaped. It has 3 holes in it for water to drain out of the gasket. If the gasket gets plugged, and the water can't drain... it will get grungy and moldy in there. (Ask me how I know....) So wipe it out when you're done for the day.
I add one or two scoops (coffee scoop size - 2 Tablespoons or so) of BORAX laundry booster (20-mule team borax) to each load. Just put the borax in before you put the clothes inside the washing machine. If I had done this from the beginning instead of two years too late, I would not have had a problem with odors in my washing machine. Front end washer's are well known for odor problems. They sell special tablets to put in and run the machine through a wash cycle to rid it of odors but it takes a few times to get the odor gone. Those tablets are not cheap. 20 Mule Team Borax IS CHEAP compared to dealing with odor problems later.
AND... when I go to dump the black tank... I use the HE laundry soap and the borax together to soak the toilet bowl and take out the stains before I do the final flush and rinse the tank. I know it works well for that.
So... you put water in your bathroom sink( to plug the air).
You fill the toilet bowl with water (to plug the air) and put 1/4 to 1/2 of a cup of HE laundry soap and 3 coffee scoopfuls of 20-mule team borax into the toilet bowl and swish it around real good. Then shut the gray valve and open the black tank valve. (You need to have your black tank almost Full when you do this.) With the air blocked in the sink and toilet, the tank will need to pull air from the air vent on the roof...which you WANT it to do.) You'll hear a WHOOOSH and get a strong surge that will come out of the Black Tank as it pulls the solids from the bottom of the tank for a good cleaning. (You better of had your connections good and tight on the sewer hose.)
When it gets down to a trickle.... now close the black valve. Flush your toilet and send the HE soap/borax into the black tank. NOW Put lots of water into the tank with the tank sprayer in the tank (if you have one) or a hose/tank sprayer down the toilet and give it a good amount of water. Now pull the blank tank valve again and hose it out until it's good and clean. you're done. CLose the Black Valve and open the gray if you're hooked to sewer.
As far as the Gray tank... I'll close the gray valve for a load or two of laundry about once a month and then open the valve to flush it. The HE laundry soap and the 20 mule team borax I put into the the washer will end up in the gray tank. Just don't forget to open that gray valve before your gray tank fills up with laundry water.
