I am considering doing some extended stays around Portland and Seattle and was wondering how bad age discrimination against RVs is up there. I Saw one ad on craigslist for a park with lower priced rent but their website then stated that RVs must be 20 years or newer. That counts out my 78 Xplorer for sure. I suspect the ones that don't have websites would be the ones that would allow any age RV... and might also be even cheaper.
Any thoughts?

Campgrounds have strict limits of 14 days.
Even the national forest dispersed camping has such limits up that way. One I looked up, it limits you to 28 days per year: 14 days, 30 days (or more) out, 14 days in and that's it for the year.
Not much good if I plan to stay for 3-6 months. And heck I might end up living there eventually if I like it well enough.

A popular park in Seattle (Bothell) is Lake Pleasant, but when I was there in 2002 they had a 10-year rule.

Looks more like an RV "resort" from the video I just saw on youtube. Looks way too fancy and expensive.
I suspect I won't have much problem finding an affordable budget minded RV park in such large metro areas. Might take some searching but I'm sure there's plenty of them.

Private CG's have rules about the age of RV's. That's to make sure that the CG doesn't end up looking like a riff-raff gathering. RV's that are older and have been in the NW over any length of time get a green grudge look to them from the rain, mold and mildew that abounds here. The rain doesn't wash this off. Some want to stay a month or three. Once they let you in, it's hard to get you to leave if your rig can't roll.
If you drive your rig to the campground so they can see it, they can waive the rules that they created and will.
If you call for a reservation and they ask you and you tell them the age of your RV they might just say "no".
If you call and OFFER that information and OFFER to email pictures or provide a reference or two at the last few CG's you stayed at, I bet you will have less trouble.

Well the thing is too.. my van doesn't look bad for it's age. I know the green stuff you mean though. My Shasta started looking ratty after a few years of not being washed.
And too, the motorhome will be my only "car". I will have a 125cc scooter with me too but that's not much good in rainy weather. So I will be keeping the van drivable.

We have never been asked and nobody has threatened to run us off due to our almost thirty year old Vanguard. That is not to say it might not happen though.I don't think there will be any problem as long as the rig looks clean and reasonably well maintained.

I've never seen any CG's around here either that care about age.
