Gates may be the best but I would get a GY Gatorback belt. The Gates may chirp like a bird. Mine did. Replaced with Gator and everything is fine.

Good luck

Ron

Thanks for the info Ron, I'll file that when it's my turn to replace the belt!

Make sure that you get the right size belt. I believe they have a 102" and a 108.5" belts for the 8.1L engine. Mine uses the longer of the two.

Also make sure you have a belt routing diagram before taking the old belt off. If you don't have a diagram, draw one NOW

noleakman,

103" belt for P32 chassie

108 for W series

Part# 4061080 for Goodyear

Part# K061080 for Gates

You need a 3/8" sq drive long extension or reg 3/8 sq drive and a 6" pipe that fits well. This is to move the tensioner.

Draw the layout of the belt don't try to remember. Some help on top side with the belt is nice.

Good luck

mabryoso1,

Never tried it with doghouse on. Have done 2 others for friends and had doghouse removed and their help.

There is an idler pully at the top right side. Try using a mirror and see if you can find it from the bottom. I know it would be a long reach.

The belt being new is stiff and don't bend well. Just make sure that the belt is lined up in the groves.

Good luck

Ron
