Thx, I checked that. It's the 18" stroke, not the 24". Still a pretty good buy though, depending on shipping cost.

The 18" barker 3500 vip at Adventure RV is only $199. The 24" is $282. Shipping to me is around $28. I can't remember how much we paid for uit, but we got it from Adventure RV.

With the $99 ultrafab, one of two things can happen. It breaks and you buy another (or get it fixed). Or it works with no problem. I would probably take the $99 gamble myself. Many on here with Ultrafab's and no problems. Many on here with Barkers that say the customer service is top notch. But they are having to deal with customer service which means they have had problems.

I went with the Barker 3500 VIP. I wanted the largest one I could afford.

I had an older Barker. It came on a trailer I bought. It was a good unit.

I have an ultra fab on my 2011 Jayco. It is a good unit. It broke down the first trip though. Ultra Fab overnighted me a new one at no cost though. No questions asked. They also paid for me to return my old one. You can't beat thier service.

Get the biggest and longest stroke you can. You never know when you need some extra power in a bind or on unlevel ground.

Chromag;
Jacks come with either a 2" or 2 1/4" shaft. So, the first thing you need to do is find out what size hole you have in the mount plate.

Then be ready to do a little milling on the bottom plate hole. I have installed several Barker Jacks for myself and friends. I have found that I have to use a dremel tool with grind stone to hone out the lower plate a little. Then hit the work area with some paint to keep it from rusting. It will not take much, but it will be too tight to just drop in.
I would not recommend installing a 2" shaft in a 2 1/4 hole to prevent a little grinding.

Thanks for that info. I'll definitely measure it and see which one it needs and be prepared with the dremel.

As it stands right now we have to use a 6x6 block under the manual jack to get it high enough to fit over the ball. I'll definitely be measuring that to see if the 24" would work better and not require a block.

Thanks!

That's a nice Jack. It runs for around $280. I'm torn between spending $99 for a refurbished Ultra Fab 3500, $220 for the 18" Barker 3500 or just springing for the 24" Barker.

Where did you find it for around $280? The Barker website shows them for $346.25. Part #31558. The 3500 VIP with 18" stroke runs for $300.83. $280 is a deal!
