When you pay for a extended warranty, more than not you have a deductible also before it kicks in.Might want to check before anything happens.
I say NO to both.Take that $1000(or whatever) and put it into savings or CD acct.
The "extended warranty" is actually an insurance policy.
Insurance companies always make a profit (as they should). ALWAYS!
I would not buy one on a new rig.
On a 10 year old rig, maybe. But, probably not.
The choice is yours.
Good luck.

I purchased the extended warranty because my Forrest River manufactures warranty was only for one year, and as fate would have it my convection oven went out after 18-months, but the extended warranty did pay for a new exact replacement convection microwave oven ($600) and labor costs to install it after my $100 deductible. Glad I have the extended warranty.
My logic is that not getting and extended warranty is like not having any accident insurance on your TT; keeping in mind that accident insurance on a travel trailer is also optional in most states, but lots of people pay their insurance premiums every year. In my opinion there is no difference between having accident insurance on your vehicle and having and extended warranty on your vehicle or TT.
If the law allowed it would you decline accident insurance on your vehicle?

I guess I have to ask, how much did you pay for the warranty?

Not the same IMHO. If I total ( wreck ) my trailer, I'm out $26,000. At that great of an expense, insurance is just about a must have ( is a must have due to loan terms in my case ).
My advice is to look at the fine print of the warranty. The last one I read, the warranty mainly covered the things like stove, frig, A/C, stereo, slide mechanics. It DID NOT cover problems from a leaking roof or walls coming apart. It would be the latter 2 items I would most be worried about.
The most expensive item covered ( I think ) is the 2/3 way frig. These are about $900 plus labor. But, ( knock on wood ), of the 3 previous campers I have owned, I have not had a frig problem, with the oldest being 7 years old before trading in. The rest of the items covered wouldnt be a huge hit to my wallet, so I would probably pass on the warranty, unless is was cheap enough ( $400-$500 for 5 years ).

12 Cougar XLite 27RLS ( 960# Tongue, 6740# Gross as loaded)
Just the Wife and I.
i would pass on both. save your money and if anything happens you choose whether its repaired/replaced and who does it. I like the freedom of not having to work with a 3rd party.
My extended warranty cost exactly $964.00 and it covers everything, including a leaking roof. It is from Cornerstone United, and I have the “Ultimate Coverage Package, which covers parts and labor on wear and tear as well as mechanical breakdowns. I have no regrets purchasing it whatsoever.
My accident insurance only covers vehicle accidents while my warranty covers wear and tear and breakdowns. I also have and extended warranty on my tow vehicle. Once I had a car where the transmission broke down and the manufactures warranty had expired but my extended warranty covered the high cost of a new transmission. Each to their own but I feel a lot better with and extended warranty than I do without one.

Never been burned and yes have had instances where I never used it. That said if your rich and can afford to pay for major repairs should they occure don't buy, that's called being self insured. If an unexpected repair comes up and your bank account is strained or you will need to put on credit card, then buy warranty. I bought all warranties on my Komfort and just was able to get top dollar selling it yesterday, because of it. Note you can negotiate your price on these services. For me it just paid off...again... Last thing, read the coverages and be prepared to see that you follow all required maintenance requirements. For those that say they are not honored well that's what Attorneys are for! Lol
Ok well at least this post made me feel a little better I'll definitely have to check on the maintenance requirements.
Made me feel better too! I bought an ext warranty when I bought at this years show. I hope I don't need it but its piece of mind for me knowing that if something goes wrong i'm covered hitch to bumper!! Just like the health/dental/eye insurance I buy. A set of glasses and a few crowns in the family im glad I had it!
I opted out of the paint protection and tire coverage. They said the tire coverage will cover my TT as well as my TV tires. I'm glad I asked if TV was only covered if I was towing the TT. He reluctantly said yes and I said No Thanks!! I already have road hazard on my TV tires )
