Does anyone recognize this type of battery isolator? There is no Mfg or part number stamped on it. It is on a 1996 Georgie Boy Swinger. The Tech Rep at GBM did not know what it was. This seems to be a spring loaded mech type because I can push each stud in when I remove both nuts on each stud and feel a spring underneath. When depressed it reads continuity when not it is open. I still have not figured out why it is not working. Any help would be appreciated.

Might try here.

http://www.ase-supply.com/

If the alternator is working correct then the coil voltage winding is open. The small red wire should have alternator voltage on it when running. Might have to back track to see where the small red wire comes from. Should have some circuit breakers in there also. I would think that you would have at lease one for each battery. It looks more like a Solenoid to me but things change over the years.

Thanks Mountainair for your quick reply. I do have 14.6v or alternator voltage on the red wire at the base of the solenoid/isolator and have two of these items side by side in the electrical box. Cannot find any inline fuses or circuit breakers for these. Will any continuous duty, 12v, 100amps solenoid work as a replacement? Cole Herse seems to make a lot of different styles.

Not sure, Was hopeing someone would jump and might have a diagram. On your picture look like you have a lot of circuit breakers on the right. Something has to act as a trigger, since you have voltage, you will need a ground. If I run across a general diagram , will send to you.

Maybe forum member dougrainer will jump in tonight.

Appears to be a Redarc Battery Isolator or a knockoff. Fairly common - if you live in Australia!

Check out this link and seearch around accordingly. Saw another on Ebay.au

Probably worth replacing with a more readily availalble unit.

If it won't even activate when you have 12 v across the coil (small lugs on the bottom) then the coil is either bad or the internal contacts are not free to move easily.

If you can hear it activate ("thunk"), then the reason it isn't working is probably because the contacts inside are pitted and burned.

A new one is less than $20:

Sloop it sure looks like a Red Arc from the catalog the only problem it would cost more to ship from Au than the part is worth. The one that spin rite shows looks like a good replacement. I would guess that any solenoid with same specs would work??? It still seems kind of odd that both would go bad at the same time or does one activate the other? I called GBM and Intellitec and neither one could provide me with a wiring diagram. Thanks again for all your help.

I finally got the exact replacement for my 12v contactor from the help that you guys gave me. I happen to be at Napa picking up a switch for my fan and happened to check in person(I had called and they said they did not have any solenoids or isolators). After some work looking through the computer a young girl at the counter found something on the wall for snow plows. Looked like the same part but could not find any specs on it. Called SAM the Mfg/Dist and it was 12v 100a continuous duty. Installed it and all is well again. It must have been a Red Arc from Au but had no Mfg name or no. just like the original one. Thanks again for all your help. This is the replacement part in case anybody else has this problem.

Good deal!!! And you are fortunate that you found someone willing to take the time to look. You should let her boss know how fortunate he is to have her working for him.

As long as the amp rating matches up and it is 12V you should be okay. Hopefully, the amp rating is stamped somewhere on the old one. If not, as long as it is at least the rating of your largest DC fuse on your converter you should be okay. IMHO
