It took me over three years to find a good side door T/C without slides. I down sized from a Class "A" to get into this rig. I really don't miss the extra room of the big bus including the extra expenses of Plates, extra insurance, and maintenance ... not to mention I get much better gas mileage.

I would venture to say that if just one T/C Mfg set their sights on a side door non-slide that was light_er than the average, not to mention get the pricing under control ... they would have a hit on their hands.

Chalet is trying hard to get ahead of the competition . I heard today that a new manufacturer, Transformer TC's is going to come out soon with a TC that will fit on a 1/2 ton pick up and it will have 18 sections that will slide out, fold out, rotate out , lift the rig up from the bottom and out at the top, kinda like a kids toy for adults. The unit is frameless so lightweight. The entire look is new , long and cylindrical, and when you tap on the seams on specific sections , the section you want kinda pops out, just like pop n fresh dough, but I hear they won't cost a lot of dough. The only drawback is the unit sometimes has issues in wet climates with the cardboard skin. I think Chalet is afraid of the pending competition and is trying any miniscule attempt they can to add little pop outs of their own to the current inventory. I'm going to slide on outta here now and get something to eat.

Thanx Jeff & Kelli, I could not find any used ones and the couple of times I tried to contact the factory, I left messages with no return calls.

If it had a Popup Roof, that would be 5 slides!

Potog101,

Try email. It may take a couple of days but they'll get back to you.

I've seen used ones on Craigslist. We are trying to setup a visit to the S&S factory while we are at Montana's Glacier NP for the NW TC Rally in June. I know S&S is working a reduced schedule so try again or email. We looked at one of these models and it has a lot of nice features. It's like a non slide Lance 1191. The kitchen / dinette areas are arranged like Northern Lite 10.2 classic floor plan.

Thanx, but I think that I will hang onto the Real Lite RL 1200 that I have now. It may be a 1997, but it is solid like a rock, with a few minor things that need repair, but that is one reason that I go it. I like making things better. I also plan on a few upgrades in the future, just for kicks and giggles.

Thanx again.
