Facing this- the extreme heat and humidity we would have in the summer. Aside from spending lots of time in the water and the shade- how are you or have you kept cool in a tent in 80+ degree weather, even at night?
We plan heading out in the summer - and was curious of some others suggestions. We plan on spending lots of time at the beach/in the pool- and we also are bringing two fans to put inside out tent to help with air circulation at night. Any other suggestions? And we are using a 6 man 3 rooms family camping tent.

Sweated when there was no electricity, when we had access to electricity we used a oscillating fan and were fairly comfortable. We were a lot younger then, now I have to have A/C.

We have a TT, but friends of ours came to the beach with us two summers ago and brought their tent. We have a LARGE screen tent and we put their tent inside the screen tent so they could keep their windows and doors open, even if we got rain. They had 2 small fans they hung up over top of them like a ceiling fan, plus they had a large fan sitting outside their tent blowing the cool evening air IN. They said it was REALLY comfy and they even got chilly a few nights.

If you are not hiking with your gear, you have more options.....bringing electric fans and even cooler A/C units that can be plugged in to your car.
HERE is one of them...also great if you leave the dogs in the car.

Walmart has a fan that is battery & electric & 12v, they work good. Also we don't spend any time in the tent other than sleeping.

Make sure the tent is in the shade, or under a shade cover so the sun can't directly heat up the tent.

That is why I now have my little trailer. I couldn't camp in the summer time because I was miserable.
But the electric fans are the best option along with keeping the tent in the shade as much as possible. Around here, the humidity can be the real issue and not a whole lot you can do about that.

I have seen many many people have home a/c units blowing into their tents from the outside. Most have a table or shelf and blowing through a unzipped window area that they then cover with a tarp and someway connect (of course don't cover the a/c vents and cooling system just the area around the open tenting area) I've also seen tents that come with pre rectangled areas to place a/c units (of course you supply the shelf). We went to Disney in FL about 4 years ago in Oct with a heat index of 116 and thank the Lord for the A/C but it was still hot. You could also bring some cheap baby blow up pools to use at the campsite. We see this alot. If all else fails, at night have a cooler just of ice and have it open and have the fans blowing over the ice. It will cost you a couple of bags a night but if you want to sleep it may be worth it. You may be able to get free ice from a restuarant in the area.

with our tent we avoided high extreme heat times. I couldn't cut it. miserable even with fans.
it was so much easier to stay a bit warm then try to cool off...so most trips were early spring, spring, fall and into early winter.
at the beach we had a tent come and set up near us (we were in our TT). they lasted 1 day. hubby chatted while they packed up and asked where they were off, figuring 1 night stop to somewhere else. He told him wife and kids were dying and wanted to go home. just too darn hot. I know exactly how he felt

Our tent days are behind us but we used a small window unit AC when it was really bad. Our friend's tent had a second door that they used to secure their AC with. Ours did not so I had the cool air running into our tent through insulated flexible conduit and ran through a small shoe hole access zipper.
