All these posts and nobody said check the voltage? Low voltage will cause what you describe I think, what is the voltage INSIDE the TT when the A/C tries to run but doesn't? NEMA recommends not running the A/C with voltages below 110 VAC.

Indeed, check the voltage, both AC and DC. I experienced something that was VERY similar because of low(no) 12VDC to the thermostat.

I just talked to a service rep at a local rv dealer. He said that the problem is the controller in the AC itself. He claims it also controls the Suburban Furnace. Like I said the AC comes on by itself and only hums and I can't shut it down until I trip the breaker. On occasion it will work fine then mysteriously come on by itself and only hum. The furnace works fine and on occasion it won't turn off unless I move the thermostat to the OFF position. Supposedly the Dometic AC and the Suburban furnance are controlled by the controller. He said it was covered under the Dometic 3 plus 3 extended warranty. Hope he is correct.

On my AC the compressor only would run and neither the circulating fan or the condensor fan ran.
On mine all the control stuff is on one board accessable from the inside by pulling a panel. A new baord fixed the problem.

Sorry wasn't able to read posts until today, didn't have Internet. We did turn on the AC on thurs ( prob started tues morn) and it worked fine until yesterday. Then it started again. Both the heat and ac are doing the same thing the fan works, the unit cools and heats ithe compressor seems to shut off, its just a motor keeps running. The voltage meter plugged in showed voltage was good, actually a little high. But of course yesterday the campground filled up. The other campground where we had problems was also full. We just got home so we will have to get up there and look at it. Could it just be a bad thermostat?

I had the AC repaired today. Mine was covered under my 3 plus 3 year Dometic warranty. It was the controller board which is located in the AC unit and is accessable from inside the camper. The service mgr said it would have cost me $240 if I did not have the extended warrranty. The warranty turned out to be a good deal since it only cost me $96 back in '08. Looks like an easy job for do-it-yourselfers.

If the module board is defective, you will have to replace it. There are no individual repair parts available for the module board.
