Split A/C units are very popular in Mexico. We've had ours for 12 years and they still work beautifully. However, I didn't think about what Wolfe said.
Funny, people along the border (U.S. side) come here to buy the split units saying they are about half price here. I saw one the other day, a one ton unit with heat pump for 280. Cheaper than a clunky old roof air.
