Looking to down size and am researching some class b's..
Looking at earley-mid 90's Airstream 190 and curious
as to what gas mileage to expect.
My 26' class c w/460 Ford gets 7-8 mpg.
Any other help and opinions on other b's will be helpful...
Thanx..

If I had known I was going to live this long,
I would have taken better care of myself...

We have a '92 B-190. When we first got it, we got as high as 14, now about 12.
We have the 460 ci.

A little bit off topic here, however, we just returned from a 1800 mile trip in our brand new Winnebago ERA (Sprinter based van) and got 19mpg on the V6 diesel engine.

We get 14-15 MPG with our 1999 American Cruiser with the Dodge 360. That is at 60 MPH. Faster it would drop I am sure.

In regard to Sprinter fuel mileage and cost, do the math. Current cost of gasoline on the average is 3.89. Diesel would have to approach $5 per gallon before gasoline was the less expensive option.

I had the old I5 Sprinter and logged every fill-up over 61,000 miles and my final average was 22.5 mpg for all miles driven. I didn't use it as a daily driver in the metro area. I now have the V6 and average about 19 to 20 after I passed the 8,000 mile mark. During break in it was closer to 18 and I admit that did have me worried. Both diesels got better with miles and break in. My I5 actually improved again after 40,000 miles. My preliminary calculations with the V6 is that the mileage seems more variable with the type of driving I do. However, in the year I have had the V6 I have been driving it around home a lot more than I ever did with the I5. It's my Home Depot run vehicle of choice now that I sold my Nissan Titan pickup.

Can't speak to the 190 AS with it's high top. However, I have a '96 RT190 Popular built on a 1995 Chevy G30 van chassis with the 185hp 5.7L engine. I've averaged 13.2 mpg over the 40k+ miles that I've owned it.

I write down miles and gallons & (ugh) price for every fill up.
