I think it has more to do with the cost of the 2 diffrent vehicles.
So it's your belief that everyone who camps or RVs secretly really wants a Class A, yet can't afford one even though Craigslist and other places have them for the same prices as 5th wheels and TTs? Somehow that doesn't make sense.
For us, it had nothing to do with cost (our new truck and FW have added up to be quite a bit of money) - it was sleeping arrangements for the # of people that we wanted to support. Personal preference abound here, but for us - we felt like the kids would be sleeping in closets and there wasn't room for 2 adults to sleep in real beds w/o converting the dinette or sofa in the living room.
(shrugs shoulders) Different strokes for different folks.
I have a MH. I am considering a TT. I have a 1/2 Ton Silverado Hybrid to tow with. I do not consider a 1/2 Ton PU as being adequate for towing most TT's.
If all goes according to Plan, I will Purchase the largest Trailmanor TT that they make. They are a Hard-sided, Full-sized TT that collapses. They are towable with a 6 Cyl Mini-Van.
Biggest mistake I made was selling our TM. We had two, the 3326 and a 2720SL. Wish I had one now. A real gas saver, easy to tow, and best of all great for boondocking.
Can't understand why more manufacturers don't get on the folding bandwagon. At one time, Hi-Lo even made a fifth wheel. I guess fuel economy doesn't really matter to most people. I think designers could really come up with some innovative ideas.
As for a TT or motorhome, I'd rather stop for lunch and use the potty if it meant saving some big bucks (used mohos aside).
