I don't think that any motor homes would tow my 12 passenger van that we use to tow our TT. And camping in a MH without a toad is unthinkable to the way we camp.

I also don't think there are any MHs that would have enough seat belts in the right kind of seats. Car seats are designed to be used in forward facing seats only. As soon as the next baby comes sometime in the next few weeks, we'll have 3 in car seats, plus some in booster seats and regular seat belts. I can't see any MH being a good choice for us while driving AND having the right number of beds for while we're camping.

A FW is also out of the question. Our family doesn't fit in a truck. End of question.

I was a very bad boy last February when I went to a RV show. I loved my 2006 21SS ROO, outfitted with gizmos, gadgets and paid for. Great memories and easy to tow with my 2002 F150, also paid for. My oldest finishes up college this year and my youngest works full-time. Although still enjoying my 30 year career as a LEO, I had the itch to go almost full-time in a few years. So, instead of allowing common sense to prevail, I bought my Class C, knowing full well I would assume a RV mortgage, have additional insurance and repair costs as well as not having a toad at my disposal on demand while on the road, for now. However, I have enjoyed my first 4000 miles, countless hours puttering in and around the MH as well as many nights in Camp Driveway. More so, I have headed out to destinations that normally I may have spent money for a hotel, but now 'camp' out in a friend's driveway or at a CG and just hitch a ride. Sure, you can do all that with a TT too and have a nice TV to do what you want. I guess I looked into the future a bit as well as utility for a RV lifestyle on the road.

I know I could have purchased a new(er) TT and TV at the same time for less. Suffice it to say that I work hard and play hard and darn it, I want to do what I want to do! I believe we all make our RV choices for the reasons that are right for us at the time.

I'd much prefer camping in a Class C but the TT was a lot cheaper and allows us to do the same thing. One day we will upgrade but likely truck and new trailer or fiver vs a motorhome. We use or TT but also do other trips via airplane etc.

After months of looking and researching before we bought our current set-up, we realized the two most important considerations we had: ground clearance and water capacity. A's have the water capacity but not the ground clearance (nor maneuverability) of our current set up. Bs and Cs have neither.

That's not entirely true.

Our 24 foot Class C, with over 2000 lbs of CCC left, holds 46 gallons of FW and I could easily double that if desired. I have also increased ground clearance by replacing the tires that came on it with larger diameter tires. (Just a few days ago we crossed a stream to get to a drycamp site in our Class C.)

It's nothing to set up at a campsite and "drives like a van" -> unlike TT, 5th wheel, large TC (those with a large FW tank), or Class A rigs.

Class B rigs got us beat on overall vehicle size ... but of course have way too small beds, tanks and showers.

Huh? MHs just don't fit with some people's lifestyle or idea of camping or RVing. Status or snob appeal or keeping up with the Jones doesn't interest some of us. Comfort and convenience comes first. I assume you have a tt only because you couldn't afford a MH. Am I right?

Before we bought anything we looked at MHs both new and used. Realizing we would also need a toad to maintain and drag around with us was the biggest turn-off. The 5th wheels seemed to be overkill for two seniors who spend most of the time outdoors, but we did like them.

Class Cs had the same problem as the MHs. Haul a toad or break camp to run for a few groceries. Ditto for class B's plus most were a bit small with small tanks. That left TTs. We actually looked at those last. A perfect fit with no toad needed. We would NOT have to break camp to run to the store or do some sightseeing. The tanks were generous. There was sleeping at each end which was hard to find in the other type of RVs. TTs are also excellent for snow-birding or just camping for the weekend.

So you are quite wrong and sound a bit "uppity" assuming the only reason people don't have MHs is because they can't afford them.

Snow birding during the winter, you see mostly class"A"s,and very few TT's. In the summer, while school is out,you see mostly "TT"s and Pop Ups. While our kids were young,we had a small TT,then a pickup camper, and finally a large used Pop up. All were financed. We paid cash for class "A" when we bought it new. It just takes time to become financialy stable.

Not in FL where we snow-bird. It's a mixed bag. The last place we snowbirded, just outside Ocala, there were mostly 5th wheels and TTs, some surprisingly small. There were a few Class As. You will see mostly Class A's in the high priced "resorts" where they're packed in like sardines... parking lot like. I have no idea what the draw is to such places but they're full of Class As.

We are quite financially stable, more so than most people. We are both retired as are many others who have no interest in a class A, new or used.
