Honda EU2000I / 46.3 Lbs. / 53 DB at 25% and 59 DB at 100% / 3-Yr. Warranty / $900, no tax no shipping charge.

Yamaha EF2000IS / 44.0 Lbs. / 51.5 DB at 25% and 61 DB at 100% / 2-Yr. Warranty / $910, no tax no shipping charge.

I probably won't use much draw, so the Yamaha should be slightly quieter, though you wouldn't be able to tell a difference anyway. The Yamaha gets slightly more run time (10.25 hrs. at 25% Vs 9.6 hrs. at 25% - Both have 1.1 Ga. tanks). The Honda has a better warranty, but you don't buy either one of these for fear they'll break down.

Which would you choose? The price is the same.

The Honda has a fuel pump that makes attaching a extended run fuel tank simple. That alone would make the difference for me and in fact did.

I went with two hondas and a parallel kit. Great flexibility, take one or both depending on whether I will be using heavy load items or light stuff.

I have the EF2000is. It's a 3year warranty per a phone call to them even though the manual that came with mine said 1 year.

Got mine for a GREAT deal (Amazon sale + discount) but if I were to pay full price, I'd get a Honda for better surge capability. Seems to be better supported for repairs too (check for authorized service centers).

DB might be comparable, and I have not heard them side by side, but I'm surprised at how loud my Yamaha is when in ECO mode and at a lower RPM. Might be the frequency of the noise that makes it irritating. At work we have a Honda and to me I think it's quieter, but like I said, it wasn't side by side under the same conditions.

You won't go wrong either way. Since I have a Yamaha that is awesome ..... I'd go for the Yamaha since it is quieter, lighter, and will run longer.

PS I highly suggest you find and run Ethanol FREE fuel to avoid contaminates forming in the carb causing poor running conditions.

The one whose dealer is closest to my house. So if I need to bring it in for repairs, I will travel the smallest distance.

The Honda is supposed to be easier to equip with an extended run fuel tank. Aside from that, I would gladly take either.

Either choice they are both rated highly, I prefer the Honda since I have one.
