The unfortunate reality is that most oil exploration and drilling on public lands and off-shore are still blocked by our own Government.
Well, their drilling like mad in Pennsylvania, and it isn't making any difference around here.

Unless you convert your rv or tow vehicle to run on natural gas, the drilling in PA won't help you. Ever hear of fracking? High pressure water injection to break the rock formations and release the natural gas.

Went by a station yesterday where the only thing cheaper than diesel was low test -- and it was only 8 cents a gallon cheaper. Then again, that station sells diesel for 15 cents less per gallon than any other station, but it will fill the water seperator with dirt that will trigger the water in fuel light, so we won't buy diesel there.

It was proposed to bring oil in by train from Canada to the US because the pipe line was nixed. The environmentalist are up in arms again.

Several railroads are doing that right now mainly with the Bakken oil. I believe it is the CN and the BNSF.

Higher cost to maintain a Diesel thats for sure just ask me about my rebuilt $4,700 injectors. Needed at 155,000 miles.

Higher resale for a diesel I don't think so. My Chevy dealer offered me the Kelly blue book price of a gasser as a trade in. They even drove my truck right after the injector repair.

then you went to the wrong dealer

OR my dealer has a hard time selling diesel's nowadays.

Yes,a diesel should have gone for more and even the blue book differentiates between the two.

Totally agree.
Had checked the Kelly Blue Book price for my truck before going to the dealer.
After returning home from the dealer I checked again and his Trade In price was the same as the blue book for a gas truck.

His numbers turned me off so we did not negotiate at all.

Keeping the diesel at this point but would never buy another one.

Oil companies raise fuel prices because they can. The stockholders probably love it.

IMO speculators should have to pay 50% for oil futures rather than the $0.00 per share they pay now. Mr Obama wants to raise their cost to 12.5%. Some say this is what is driving prices at the pump higher.

Fuel prices were high during Mr Bush's presidency because he was an oil man.....what do current high prices make Mr Obama?

Our local paper had a very short article that said in 2011 U.S. oil companies shipped 19 million gallons of oil products overseas PER DAY. They can earn more money selling it in Europe, Asia, and South America than they do selling it here. Haven't heard much about that fact lately.

Supply and demand doesn't seem to be working with fuel prices. We have a surplus of fuel because of the mild winter we just had...but prices seem to keep rising when they should be going lower.

Years ago when my FIL moved to Tucson he investigated going into the gas station business. Whichever oil company he was talking to told him if he bought (these figures are just for an example) 1000 gallons a month the cost would be $0.10 a gallon, If he bought 2000 gallons a month the cost would be $0.12 a gallon....and so on. Penalized for selling more.

Lately in grocery stores we've noticed it is cheaper per oz to buy two smaller bags of whatever than one large bag. Used to be the larger bag was cheaper per oz.

End of rant....thank you.

Well, my way of looking at things is that towing the tt is about twice the cost in fuel. So, the fuel price really doesn't factor for us when it comes to camping. Dont really camp to save money on vacation but even with fuel expense, it's always less expensive than hotels etc.
