Hello Everyone,

I plan on purchasing a used truck to tow behind my motorhome and want to put our golf cart in the bed of the truck. The cart's length is around 8.5 to 9 feet long and is a little less than 4 feet wide. It has a 6" lift with 22" X 11" X 10" tires (weighs in around 1000 pounds) and has the rear seat kit. Based on my research so far, I will need a long bed pickup preferably 3/4 ton. Since I will be pulling front forward into the pickup (I prefer backing in), there will be considerable weight aft of the rear axle. I may be able to close the tailgate, but do not know definitively yet. I need to also keep in mind not to exceed the GVWR of the truck and the GCWR of the motorhome.

Blueox has the tailgator which may seem to be an answer for me backing in since the tailgate will be down. See here: www.blueox.com/p-1453-tailgator.aspx

For those of you that put golf carts in the bed of your pickup similiar to my golf cart configuration and tow behind your motorhome, what setup do you have that you can share? Any advice would be appreciated.

At 8.5 to 9 feet long you wont be closing the end gate the weight will not affect the pickup.

I haul a EZGo, lifted in my Z-71, I have the extended Cab and the 6ft.bed, the Tail gate will lift up about 1/2 of the way, I just use the nylon jack ties to hold it in Place, the rear tires sit just inside of the bed, but that leaves the rest to hang out past the back of the bed over the tailgate. There is hardly any difference in the weight that you can tell by the drop of the spring on the truck. Works great and the MH does not even know it is there. I do not have any Pictures yet. Marvin

Not for an electric cart.

If you don't need the tailgate while traveling, leave it home. They are easy to take off and on. OR take it off and put it against the back wall of the bed when your Golf Cart is in the bed. At 1000 lbs you are over the weight limit of the tailgate and should have it off when loading/unloading. The Blue Ox unit looks good, but I think your cart will fit in the 8' bed with no problems.
