Just looked at a Jayco Jay Flight swift 198 RD and a Coachmen Catalina 19 RD, both the same floor plans, nearly the same cost. The Jayco $1000 more, but it had an electric awning, & a power front jack. 2 year warranty versus 1. Any ideas of what way to go thanks ?

If the warranty is bumber to bumber 2 years, that would be a pretty big thing for me. The electric trailer jack is about a $150-$250 option depending on what brand it is. The electric awning is a negative to me personally as I like the ability to adjust the pitch of my manual awning for both rain and to block out the late day or early morning sun when it is not high in the sky yet. Both look like nice trailers.

If I were living in Canada as I see you are, one other thing I would compare is insulation. Are they similar or does one have better R values than the other. That might extend your season some if you do any spring and fall camping. Also are the water lines in a heated area in the floor or no heat to them? Just something to check, there may not be any difference between the two or it may not be a factor for you.

Good Luck in making your decision

Don't want to hijack the thread but I've read this a few times here. My power awning has manually adjustable pitch on both sides and has automatic rain dumping. It also goes in and out with the push of a button.

I'd take the Jayco with the 2 year warranty if it was up to me.

I'd go with the Jayco.

My error Pappcam. The only electric ones I've been around did not have the adjustable pitch and just held water until it weighed enough to dump it automatically. I thought that was a poor trade off for electric.

Both of them are nearly identical floorplans...copying is the sincerest form of flattery...but there are a lot of differences.

The Jayco Jay Flight has been the #1 selling Travel Trailer in North America for 7 years in a row. Jayco is also the largest family owned RV Builder in the World, and the 3rd largest in North America, and has been building RV's for 43 years!

The Jayco has bigger fresh water and waste tanks, standard powered awning and front powered jack, standard front diamond plate rock guard, pleated shades instead of mini-blinds, outside speakers, 2 year warranty (as you know), and Jayco uses thicker sealants on the seams less likely to leak, Jayco has real wood framed cabinets with screwed stile construction, Catalina's cabinets are glued.

Jayco also has a 1 year roadside assistance including lock outs, flats, $2,000 Trip Interruption Reimbursement, tire repair, emergency gasoline (or Diesel) delivery for your truck, maps and trip planning, jump start, etc.

And another bonus...according to the NADA Blue Book, Jayco’s average resale value was 4.81% higher than the competition, giving Jayco the top resale
value in the RV industry at trade in time.

Plus every Jayco comes with a free Blue Jay on the side!

Although our Jayco was fiberglass so this wouldn't necessarily apply in this case, we felt Jayco didn't come through in resolving delamination issues that were well within the 2yr warranty. So I wouldn't put a huge emphasis on that in choosing between brands. But except for the delamination problems, our Jayco was well constructed and a good value.

We faced the same dilema when shopping for our current TT. We choose the Jayco.

I was told the Jayco 19.8RD is the low end of the 19RD. I got my 2012 Jayco Jayflight 19RD in Dec. loaded, Ladder, upgraded furnace and A/C, upgraded interior package (that is a$2,000 pkg), thermal package, spare tire, oven, 2 heavy duty batteries, 2 30# propane tanks and cover for $14,870. It also had all the upgraded water heater and water pump by pass valves for winterizing the unit.

Mine does not have an electric awning.
