Hi All
I will need a macerator pump this summer and I am looking to get a portable type in the box.
Two questions what brand of pump Sanico, Flojet and type of hose are you using, garden, Poly pipesomething different?? I know the bigger the better I was looking at 3/4 to 1 inch. I nthink the Sanicon comes with some hose at 1 inch.
The macerator pump is a totally new to me and I know nothing about them.

I've been using hose I picked up at the local lawn and garden center. It's 1" ID hose made for water fountains. It has a smooth bore and corrugated OD. Works great with standard barbed PVC fittings. It doesn't compress into as small of a package as the Sanicon hose, but it was less expensive. Mine usually stays in the garage since I use it to pump out at home. On the road I use the standard stinky slinky.

I have the portable Flojet RV kit.
I believe the instructions say to limit the length of the hose to 50 ft for 5/8" or 75 ft for 3/4 inch. This is due to the resistance that pump motor will be working against. The larger the inside diameter...less resistance...so you can use more hose.
I wanted to go nearly 100 ft...so I buried a 2" PVC pipe from my RV to our septic system. I have a 6' section of 3/4 in reinforced clear poly tubing to go from the Flojet to the PVC. I had found that it would take almost a mile of 2" PVC to give the same ammount of resistance to the pump as a 50' section of 5/8" garden hose.
I do keep a 50 ft hose in the camper for traveling...but haven't needed to use it yet.
Earlier thread..showing my installation.

I have a 50 foot Garden hose, 3/4 Inch I got from one of the "Big Box" home-improvement stores (Minnards as I recall).
For longer I would go with 1".
Oh, Black water... Black hose
I have a 2nd 25 foot 3/4 inch GRAY hose.. (I have two gray water tanks)
Right now I'm using the original Stinkly Slinky that came with my RV in 2005, I don't use it often, it is too short, but on the site I"m on now.. PErfect for the job.

I've been happy with my Flojet setup. Just make sure you have a clear section of pipe between the pump and the RV's waste port. This not just allows you to see when things are done, so you can shut off the pump at once (rather than hearing it, and macerator pumps burn out fast when run dry), and you can put on and take off the pump by the clear section, so there is less chance at breaking the bayonet "fingers" on the pump.
Once I finish camping at this festival, I have never used a 3" hose before, so hoping I can get that working at a CG or RV park as well as I do the macerator pump setup.

I have a macerator, used it religiously for the first year of 5th wheeling. Got tired of the lengthy process of draining one black and two gray tanks and got conventional slinky pipe, and haven't used the macerator in over a year. The only time I would, would be at home where I have to push waste uphill, otherwise it just is nearly impossible to get a thorough emptying of the tanks, just can't get the fast flow that helps so much.

I have a Flojet. I'm happy with it. Don't know much about the other brands. For several months a year I use the Flowjet to move liquid waste nearly 250 feet. It work fine, except it takes nearly an hour to empty 200 gallons of black and gray water. I have been using garden hoses that I picked up at garage sales. The only problem with garage sale hoses is that one day there will be a break in one of the hoses. Worst things have happened in my life.
