OMG I'm in Quartzsite on BLM land and I've been attacked by packrats in my rig and my truck. Not much left to the sofa and We can't get them out. My question is: With so many rv'ers that boondock in quartzsite everyday, how do you all avoid this?? Whats your secret, PLEASE HELP FAST. We will get them out but I'd like to know how to keep them out. I thought I did a good job before we got here to fill in all the holes underneath. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP-WHAT A MESS.

I had a place in my TT that I suspected mice were getting in, thought I had sealed it, but evidently not. I got a rubber snake and laid it in the vicinity of the place. End of problem. After a couple months I saw some mouse droppings under a cabinent. Went outside under the TT and saw that the dog had grabbed the snake and moved it. I replaced it to the original place, cleaned up the droppings and have not seen any since. You just have to check the placement of the snake more often to ensure that it hasn't been moved, and more importantly remember that it is there-gave me quite a start when walking by it and not expecting to see it there. Worked for me. Gary

Sorry, you can't get rid of your kids till they are grown and even then it may be tough. They tend to tear everything up in their path. Good luck!

I live in AZ. I keep D-Con Rat near my RV, Pickup (parked in a carport), pool filter and various locations around the property. I also keep a couple D-Con Rat open in different location inside the RV as well, ALL the time. They can ruin the wiring on anything. You have to kill them, they will return with friends!!!

We've used the glue traps with great success.

We've set live traps right by the tires, baited with peanut butter. The rats then drown in a 5 gallon bucket. Do not relocate them alive, they will return. We've also sealed any openings with Hardware Cloth. They are a serious problem in Arizona. We've had good luck submitting claims through our vehicle insurance for reimbursement of wiring damage. The rat poisoning actually attracts them and they will return for more. Some people leave their vehicle's hood up to make it less warm, cozy and inviting for the rats.
