I am getting quite an education from this thread. I have heard of mouse infestation but never this. Good luck to the OP!

In Arizona where Desert Woodrats, or "packrats" are a problem it is common to see vehicles with their hoods open when not in use to discourage packrats from attempting to make a new home in the engine compartment.

I also keep an eye out for Javalina in a place near Tucson we frequent.

No I am not kidding. Are you a jerk to say that? We have been thru hell with this. We got here a Sunday night and it took it over that night. Can't put D-con out with dogs and other animals around..We are asking for serious answers-not jerks that have nothing else to do. THANKS AGAIN

I do not think he was trying to be a jerk or be ugly. I too was wondering if you were being sincere; I had never heard of "pack rats". You need to chill out before jumping on someones case. I think you owe him an apology. Life is too short to get upset this easily.

I wish I could help you, but I cannot think of anything that has not already been suggested by others. Wishing you the best.

I haven't read all the posts but get a cat or two if you like cats. They will take care of them. But please fed them too and don't rely on just packrats to sustain them.
Good luck

I have also heard to plug the holes with steel wool and they won't knaw through that.

We also live in Arizona (Tucson). Our neighborhood has large lots and lots of cactus, a packrat's idea of some fine livin'. After rewiring a couple of vehicles, we've tried every remedy and preventive measure we could find (dryer sheets, peppermint, mothballs, etc.). Anyhow, at least for us, the only sure fire solution has been to light up the area under the vehicle and strategic rat poison placement. For our RV we use LED rope lights and for cars and pickups, trouble lights. Also helps to keep the hoods raised. In our case, if a vehicle sits for three days, they attack. For some reason, if you drive it every couple of days, they stay away. For us, it's a never ending war. We carry the LED rope lights with us in the RV. Good luck. The only good rat is a dead rat!

Jor,

Try this. http://www.rid-a-rat.com/

You might find the device at your local Ace Hardware.

I find that the rats love to live in prickly pair cactus near mequite trees. I have found that bait blocks tied down work the best for outside issues however the EPA has banned the blocks unless you purchase them with an enclosure.

Get yourself something to seal all the holes underneath your RV then at night turn all the lights on inside then go outside and underneath the RV and seal any and all places where you see light shining through...
