Report on Boliy Pro3600SiE

The main jet was enlarged one size by my mechanic because of poor initial cold weather results.

Measurements were made with Energy meter

Location:
50.402828,-104.602296

Altitude:
583m or 1893.044ft

Temperature:
0 C or 32 F

The generator started first try (electric start) with the choke on and I let if warm up for five minutes before I slowly slid the choke off.

Loads:

100 watt bulbs, and one large oil filled heater. These were plugged into a 20 foot #14 cord and the voltage was measured on the end of that cord.

The oil filled heater on low was 803 watts so I rounded down to 800. On high it was 1692 watts so I rounded up to 1700.

On Shore power with a 15 amp outlet:

Voltage Demand in Watts

128 000
128 100
128 200
128 300
128 400
Turned off bulbs and jumped to heater, then added bulbs.
126 800
126 900
126 1000
126 1100
125 1200
125 1300
125 1400
125 1500
125 1600
125 1700

On Boliy eco switch off and als eco switch on (no difference in measurements) using the 20 amp outlet on the generator.

Voltage Demand in Watts

128 100
128 200
128 300
127 400
Turned off bulbs and jumped to heater, then added bulbs.
125 800
125 900
125 1000
125 1100
124 1200
124 1300
124 1400
124 1500
124 1600
123 1700
123 1800
123 1900
123 2000
122 2100
121 2200

With Boliy in eco mode putting on a load of 1700 watts caused voltage to bounce/drop to 113 with immediate recovery to 123 volts

If I have time on Monday I'll repeat this test going up to higher wattage with the 30 amp receptacle on the Boliy.

Regards, Don
Kustom Koach Class C 28'5" 256 watts Unisolar, 875 amp hours in two battery banks 12 volt batteries, 2500 MSW watt inverter.

I've been watching the Boliy generator items. This is interesting to me as well. There is a YouTube vid (12 parts) of someone installing an extended run gas system and a remote start on one of these, and even though it requires some significant solder skills, it is cool that this can be done at all.

If the maker could add both remote start and provisions for an extended run tank, that definitely would be an excellent boondocking setup. It definitely would rival the twin 2000 watt Hondas because the watt output is very close.

What is interesting is that the engine size for the Boliy and the Yamaha 3000i are the same size, and one website stated that they were made in the same factory. (link here.)

So, if it uses a near identical engine as the Yammy, and once there is a better parts/dealer network in place, this will definitely be a good competitor. The biggest thing the Yamaha 3000 watt has over the Boliy is the battery boost (with the SEB model). The additional 500 watts (for 10 seconds at most) coming from the generator's starting battery is the difference between successfully starting an A/C versus watching the generator overload.

I think the Boliy is amazing in the fact that it can start a 15000 BTU AC unit and weights so much less than a Yamaha 3000. Mlts I notice you location, if you are in Austin, Tx there is a dealer in south Austin. I am in Austin also.

According to their web site they have parts or can get them.

I greatly appreciate the link. They don't just have Boliys for sale, but they do offer the generators with extended run kits as well as remote start (same kits as in YouTube that can start choked, start unchoked, flip eco throttle on and off by remote, and power down.) I'm happy with my Yammy, but for other people who are wanting to boondock, this coupled with an extended run tank can provide for an enjoyable weekend with the A/C on, even in the 100+ degree days (38+ degrees C) in Texas.

I do notice that there are a lot of Boliy generator colors. Red, blue, even a black one pictured.

Hi,

I recently purchased a Boliy 3600. It will not start in below freezing weather. They have only a 15 day return period and although I had documented the problems they now wish me to ship it at my expense for them to "repair". Do NOT buy this unit.

They do have remote start with this gen and the extended run. At 70 lbs, I think this might be my new generator.

Generation 7 is supposed to have a different air intake to assist with cold starts in freezing weather.
I think I'll be getting one with the key fob remote start and extended run fuel tank for $1530. At 77lbs and full load db of 58-59 at 20 feet, should be quite.

Hi,

My boliy has been nothing but grief. It now outputs 88 volts under a small load.

Given my continued problems I can not recommend the unit in any shape or form.
