"Somebody's going to yell just before he hits the ball one of these days."

Somebody did that. He wacked the ball way off course.A lady had her son faint and screamed. But he still did decent on the hole.

Fun to watch. Graeme played tough on the front 9 but faded on the back. Welcome back Tiger.

I'm an avid golfer and an avid fan of golf. And I admire Tiger's game. But I'm no admirer of Tiger's fans. Yelling "In the hole!" at the top of one's lungs every time Tiger takes a swing, is getting really old. Particularly when those fools yell it on a 520 yard tee shot. And the aim seems to be who can yell it first, just as his club strikes the ball. Somebody's going to yell just before he hits the ball one of these days.
Before Tim Finchem came along, a spectator would be ejected from the course for doing that. Finchem is also responsible for fully enclosing the Par3 16th at the Phoenix Open with stadium seating, where the "fans" boo any player that doesn't get it on the green. And its all about attracting more fans, which attracts more advertisers' money.
I'm not sure what's next in professional sports. Full contact golf? Maybe fans yelling "miss it" at Wimbleton? Apparently they just penalized one of the pro football teams for paying a bonus to players that intentionally injured an opposing player.
Maybe its time to bring back the Roman Coliseum.

Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

I am glad to see him win, his game, when he plays well, is so pure, so accurate, so fun to watch--it is a magical thing.
I agree with the "IN THE HOLE!" complaint. I am so tired of hearing that stupid comment shouted out every swing--maybe it will just pass into memory and we can get back to fans that really appreciate the game.

The "in the hole" hooligans need their kneecaps smacked.
Duct tape would be better and more humane.
Wow, I don't watch golf anymore (used to with my dad), but I remember folks having to be quiet until well AFTER the shot was taken. Have things changed that much?

Those fans are 99.9% ASU students and it was done for their benefit (it also only costs $25 to go). Thats why there is only one course in the pga like that. You know Phil Michelson and all...

I thought it was really interesting watching how the various players would try and deal with the pressure of having immediate and quite boisterous feedback. I swear I saw fear in a few. LOL
