Currently I have a 454 chevy and 3 speed transmission p30 chassis. Is there a direct bolt in transmission from later years to add an overdrive to my motorhome? I know I could buy a new allison for a few thousand bucks, but would rather keep it simple. What transmissions from what would handle my motor and weight?

Blain,

I just sent you a PM for a copy of the P30 manual. Just email me back and I'll send it to you.

A good trans shop can build a TH-700R4 that will work...it will cost about $2000.

No you want the turbo 400 style OD 4l60ed or 4l80ed
same as they used in a 1992 454 one ton chev Pickup

Might want to check into Gear Vendor units, but they're pretty expensive.

Good luck

yes the later 4 speed overdrive 4l80ED will bolt right in.U need to buy a special electronics package to make it shift/work properly

In Fact a transmission from a little 305V8 will bolt right to any 454
and vice versa

4L80E requires electronic controls. TH700 does not.

4L60E is an electronic TH700.
