I gotta say that today I took a drive through Myrtle Beach Travel Park. Although I really like Pirateland, my next reservation in Myrtle Beach will be at MBTP. Their oceanside sites are much larger, and there are plenty of sites close to both beach and pool. Bathrooms and showers look new. We were very impressed driving through and not seeing any golf carts anywhere.

Thanks for the info. We are going to MBTP this summer for the first time.

I was looking at possibly making a reservation at either Ocean Lakes or Pirateland for a stop in MB before we continue down to Hunting Island. I need to ask, do people really enjoy going to either of these two campground resorts? They're huge! It's like a mini camping city! Seems like it would continuously busy all the time with people, kids and golf carts wandering around all day! Do you go to either of these to places to relax or is the beach/park amenities the focus?
I'm no fuddy duddy, but when I'm on vacation, I want to get away from the rat race, not go to it.

I have no problem relaxing at Pirateland, even just steps away from the beach along the main beach road. I guess it's all a matter of personal preference.

We've done Lakewood many times and have no issues with it. You make it what you make it. Want to be in a quieter location? Make sure you book further inland in the Rv Park. The closer you are to the water, the busier it will be. We don't mind it at all. I'm a people watcher. So it keeps me entertained upon hours on end, while relaxing in my lounger and a cold beer in hand.

Have you considered Myrtle Beach State Park? The environment may be more to your liking than at one of the private parks.

I was just trying to get some opinions as we have never stopped at MB. This would be more for my 2 boys(9 & 8)to exprience MB. I know we could always go to Huntington Beach to be away from it all. Never stayed at any type of park as large as Ocean Lakes or Pirateland.

Our little ones like the kiddie rat race. Usually, the bigger CGs have more amenities like lazy river, water park, arcade, putt putt golf, multiple swimming pools, ice cream stand, and even more. We go to ocean lakes and keep the kids busy all day.

We will be at Willow Tree this July. LOVE IT!!!! We will be there with out kids who enjoy this park so much. My parents will be with us this year.

You will enjoy the quiteness of the park and the walking trails around the lake. The pool and beach area are always clean. I see people fishing but never noticed anyone catching anything.

See ya at the Tree
