My husband told me yesterday of a recall on GS Motorhomes, a wiring issue. Make sure you check to make sure this ones not on the list.

We are looking at a used 29ft Class C 2006 Gulf Stream. It has just over 11,000 and seems to be in great shape. We were wondering if any of you have feedback you would share with us. We currently have a small bumper pull and would like to move into a class C for 4 or 5 years.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Paul,
Don't worry to much about weather or not Gulfstream is in business or not, a 2006 would be out of warranty anyway. Most parts inside are used by all builders so you can get replacements and the chassis manufactures are still in business so you can have repairs done if needed. Be sure to do a thorough inspection and especially check everywhere and I mean everywhere for water damage in the back corners of cabinets (upper and lower), around windows, and everywhere you can. This is a potential problem in most rvs and an eventual problem in rvs with cab over windows on the front or sides. If there are signs of water damage WALK AWAY. Check the date codes on the tires, oem's on a 2006 are just about ready for replacement (negotiate it into the price). Try and do a long (20 to 30 miles) test drive that includes highway and surface streets. This will show you any handling issues. Good luck and I hope this helps you out.
Todd
By the way if your set on Gulfstream two of the previous execs left and have formed Nexus rv. From what I've heard they build a pretty nice custom rv for a really good price.

We LOVE our 2004 GS Conquest 28' "C"; and agree with others - there's nothing on a motorhome that can't be fixed/replaced by a product that's readily available elsewhere. Our GS has given us very few problems and tens-of-thousands of miles of happy traveling.

We rented a 29' Gulfstream "Yellowstone" from ABC Motorhomes in Anchorage a couple years ago. It was on their "Fisherman's Special" which meant essentially the last rental season before being sold off, and it showed a lot of wear. This showed up mostly in the dinette seat cushions. They were innerspring cushions and really "tired" - Sank way down in them and I'm not heavy. Dinette was just clipped to the inside wall and was loose. Beyond that I'd say it had held up very well, and was well appointed, an enjoyable RV. This was a non-slide model. I don't remember the year, 2005, probably, as it was just new enough for the E450 to have the TorqShift 5-speed transmission.
Comparing with our 2003 Jayco bottom-line Escapade, much better appointed, drove a little better (transmission) but maybe not quite as well assembled. Would I consider buying one? Yes.

Parts like tail light lenses, decorative molding, and other stuff peculiar to the OEM can be hard to find with a really old orphan rig. Shouldn't be a concern on a 2006 model.

We're very happy with ours'. Bought it used two years ago with around 11K miles. Only problems with it were self-inflicted.
