We are camping at Lake Pines RV Park in Midland, GA and the Class C Coachman 2003 burned this morning. The cause of the fire was the Dometic Refrigerator. The fire dept. Was able to put it out but it burned through the side and roof above the refrig. The owners were not in it. He is a contract worker at Ft. Benning. She sells flowers and plants to nurseries. Nice couple...so sorry for their loss.

That's a drag, but at least it's replaceable.

I have one of those signs, but realize there probably would not be time and certainly would not want anyone to put themselves in danger to save my cats. And considering what I know about animals and fire, they would probably hide. You lead a cow or horse out of a burning barn, and when you turn them loose, they will head right back in. The cats you will never find! But we have to be hopeful!!!

So sorry to hear that. GLAD they weren't in it. No pets?? Hope they can salvage important documents. Fire proof safes are a good thing and I hope I never get to see if it works.

Question:
Was this refrigerator running on propane or electric when the fire started.

Cats are smarter than you think. I was on scene when a class A started burning (Norcold frig). Owners were gone but door was unlocked. I took a few steps in to make sure no humans were inside and had to backtrack quickly cuz of smoke. Force of habit, I closed the door while backing out. Went back to open it and the cat came running out.

Sad to read that. Still, it's nice to hear that the couple are safe and were nowhere near it when it happened.
